We bought 3 friends tickets, they couldn't be there either (and by we bought I mean they gave us money...lol). Its all about the buddy system on island. And you really really don't want more tickets sold. The only complaint people usually have about this event is that its a mash. It's very crowded, they really need a bigger venue, but I can't think about a prettier one.

Yes they are sold out again this year, and Betty is right...it gets crowed!! For next year though and am going to let out my little secret about getting tickets....Only for you all here (internet hipsters)....

I bought mine ONLINE this year...that's right, NO line!!! I just went online the day of ticket sales and got mine. I figured I'd give it a try when I realized I missed the morning of the sale. I got 'em with just a paypal click....

PLEASE, keep this one quiet for next year...so we may all get our tickets!!

Maybe see some of you there??

LaKhaime (sp?) , the new health food place on Northside Rd, in the building with the paint store, next to Food Town.

Very tasty, healthy food, totally vegetarian, daily lunch plates $6.00. They have meat substitute sandwiches and daily soups that are wonderful.

It's order at the counter and they will bring it to your table. There are only 2 tables and a couple of stools at a counter. The food counter is inside the store, so it's not a typical restaurant ambiance, but they have made it cute. They do a lot of take-out.

The young ladies working the counter are OK. They aren't rude, they just have that aloofness you see here a lot, not smiley or chatty, but that's fine. The lady actually preparing the food is delightful and very accommodating.

I've tried most of the veggie dishes, not the meat substitutes (why bother?), and I really like all but about 3 items. My husband is not as crazy about it as I, but he really likes the "live" salad and the lentil soup (Friday's soup).

And while you're there, you can pick up some herb tea, eco friendly cleaning products, soy ice cream, natural grains, etc!!

Now that i live in Frederiksted, I have to find a whole new way to eat, lol. i've always been an east girl so it's fun getting to know the west side. we have had the best chinese food at the new place New Garden just west of KMart. the portions are huge, the $5 take out is awesome, and it's the best quality on island. it's not greasy like all the other places and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. 3 of us ate there for lunch and it was $20 (and it took care of dinner that night too, which is the point of chinese food, in my opinion - leftovers!). no General Tso Chicken but they have a HUGE menu and almost everything is $7 (seafood is $8). The spring rolls are twice the size of other places and you can subsitute rice for lo mein for $1. Also, they have chicken wonton soup, which i never see (and good for me too, i don't eat pork) Totally recommend it!

My firend got food poisoning at Duggan's also. But then we both have gotten F.P. at one time or another at other restaurants here.

What we need here is a good salad bar. Remember the ole chart house? and the great salad bar it had.

Help yourself style would be great and would leave more time for the waitresses to keep the rum flowing.

Need to put in a plug for Waves on the northshore just north of Bogeys.
This small restaurant sits right on the rocky shoreline and has consistently good food (menu is higher end stuff).
Carl the waiter always seems to be there and always seems to be in a good mood.
They had a coconut crusted chicken for a while, and when they took it off the menu, we asked for it, and they made it special.
Not cheap, but tasty, and right on the ocean.

How about Southshore Cafe over by Great Pond and the boyscout camp... anybody ever been?
I hear it's very small but has good food.

And what about the Palms in Princess? Haven't heard any reviews of it. Was over that way the other night and the parking lot appeared to be full.

Ate at the Lobster Reef in Lavallee once on a recommendation. Food was good, but felt like I was eating in a hobo shack.

Southshore Cafe is good, all the pasta is handmade and everything is freshly made. Not cheap but good. You need to make reservations, because the staff is very small and like I said everything is handmade, they need a heads up. The only downside depending on your point of view is its not kid friendly place. If you take you kids there they need to be on their best behavior.

Palms is very average since Elizabeths left there. The odd thing is Elizabeths is horrible now that it moved to Hibiscus. Elizabeths used to be phenomenal.

Never heard anything good about Lobster Reef. Haven't been though. So I only have word of month.

I've eaten at the Lobster Reef many, many times over the past six years and have always found the food to be pretty good. The lobster dinners there are the best value (for lobster) on the island, and the rest of their menu is good as well. Granted, the inside of the place does look like a shed in someone's back yard, but the combination of the good food and the killer view is really hard to beat.

Amazing! The food was best Thai I've had in years better than a lot I used to get in NYC. The place is gorgeous and the server we had was spot on. I really delightful dining experience I look forward to returning again and again

Polly's on the Pier is in Fredriksted - across the street from the Pier. They're about a block from Blue Moon.

Just to plug myself. . . new spring/summer menu rolled out last night at Salud. Juanita, everything you know and love is GONE! Just kidding.

To name a few: duck 2 ways, braised goat, shrimp and white bean pasta, vegetable cannelloni, half rack of lamb, local bibb and beet salad, baklava semifreddo, and apple tartlet with cinnamon creme englaise. Also one of our cheaper menus we've put together.

Taste of STX sure makes for a crazy week with all of the fancy dinners. Wednesday we have guest chefs coming including a chef who won "Iron Chef" on FoodTV and Antonia from Top Chef season 4. Putting together everything for Thursday is a daunting task and I can't wait to get the show on the road.

Betty, come say hi. Sorry about the soup, I remember that night thumbs down
