I knew about the Rockerfellers, never heard about the Kennedy clan visiting, tho. I've read books on them-- I know the picture you're talking about I believe. Of them all Eunice was the best or maybe I mean to say the most sincere in helping others.

i miss all those old familys you know our american aristocracy, just something about them, the astors, the vanderbilts, the duponts, yeah they were despots and robber barons but they did achieve greatness, the sheer ambition of the family founders is what i admire.

I think one reason likely he enjoyed stx was because he had a good amount of privacy...though I do recall years ago a pic on the front page of the Avis, taken when he was getting gas next door to the Avis building....they stayed in a private home, but dined out, went to church, etc...

Duggans Reef Restaurant was a favorite of theirs. I think Frank has some Kennedy memorabilia on the walls.

Kennedy was a Catholic and presumably believed in heaven. I wonder if he thought he would end up there, and if so, what he planned to say when he bumped into Mary Jo.

Very funny Exit Zero !

"In a 1994 interview, Joseph and Gwen Kopechne said they had never received a direct apology from him"

A true profile in courage.

Ted was often found at Shoy's Beach in recent years. I think the family stayed there at the pyramid house on the point. three years in a row we ran into him and his family at the beach there. he loved my huge Anatolian Sheppard! He was a huge guy, probably not easy on his heart!

The last several years he stayed in a house in Shoys. Some of his family would stay at the Buccaneer.

i am not taking sides in this issue at all, but david gergen was on cnn today and he's a talking head i trust and he laid out everything kennedy did after the mary jo thing to seek out redemption, yes he did a badthing with the mary jo situation but i also think he sought redemption and gergen used that exact word,i learned alot about the man today,i always thought he was a joke but after gergen today and hearing stories from people he helped i changed my opinion

I was just watching the Ted Kennedy tribute, In Senator Kerry's speech he said " Ted was a romantic, he got engaged to his wife Vickie on St. Croix. He put the engagement ring on some coral so she could find it while they were diving, never thinking it might be washed away".

Let's hope lots of potential visitors were watching; nice to be mentioned is a good light for a change.
