Typical Weather?

So... I know it seems like a stupid question but... whats the weather like on islands? Ill be living there from Oct to roughly June if I dont make it permanent.

I am not deluded enough to believe it is "perfect" weather all the time. I imagine it is relatively humid and obviously hot most times with maybe a cross breeze to keep you cool if your lucky? Im not sure how accurate it is but figure posting here is the best way to find out smiling

Any insight is great because I am A) gonna be working in kitchens while there and would like to be mentally prepared and B) want to know what all to pack (jeans i feel are likely unneccesary?)

Thank you

Go to www.wunderground.com you can use the various links to find historical weather data for any place in the world, including any of the USVI's.

You can also find some general water data at for the USVI's at www.weatherbase.com

for some of us locals, especially those that live on a hill, it can get downright chilly in the winter. also to me, the water with the air are too cold to get into in the winter. we usually have a breeze since we live on a hill. summers are too hot and way too humid. i usually get rashes from the heat. it is nice most of the time though.

Yes, the weather is just about perfect all the time.wink Most of the year, there is a nice prevailing breeze from the east. The hottest months are July, August and September and you'll be missing those. Now in the kitchen, it's going to be a bit warm and humid. Bring your jeans for the winter.

Thanks everyone so far,

Fortunately I only own 3 pairs of jeans so I'll just bring them, sadly I also only own two pairs of non running shorts, so I will be buying either some more shorts or cargo style pants when I get there or before I leave.

East Ender- As far as the kitchen goes, fortunately I've had a little preparation from working the hottest possible station while in Cape Cod for the summer which gets pretty humid smiling AND I have some lighter weight pants and work shirts to ease the heat.

Today was one of the 350 best days of the year, so it's not always perfect.

I do have houndstooth pants. But I also have 2 pairs that are a lighter material(some say too light to be worn in kitchen)

The islands have three seasons
Last summer
Summer
Next summer

Being from the east, you will probably not think it is chilly in the winter months, your first year there. But if you stay, in a couple of years you will find yourself buying sweat shirts and long pants.
Lol

I usually wear flip flops, shorts, and a tee shirt. If the occasion calls for a more formal look, I'll wear a tee shirt without writing.

This whole thread makes my heart feel warm! It got down to 54 degrees last night in Nashville and I had to put 3 layers on to keep warm. I'm ready for summer year round. (I'm NOT a fan of sleeves, or shoes that aren't flip flops) I HATE cold!! Last summer, summer, and next summer sounds like heaven to me....wink

I recognize two seasons here:

Winter: November to April. Featuring the most perfect summer-like weather. Daytime temps in the low 80's. No swimming. T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops. Favorite thought while outside at night in short sleeves: "Not bad for February."

Summer: May to October. Daytime temps in the high 80's. Yes swimming. T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops.

I go in the water in the winter--I just can't stay in as long as in the summer. The water temp is about 90 in the summer, 80ish in the winter. Not exactly Arctic temperatures wink

Yea and I was in Cape Cod for the summer and the water never broke 80 and it was doable. I too will be a "fool" in the water.
