Louvered windows here (glass or metal, window or door) almost always have screens in place additionally. Wouldn't be much point in having them otherwise as when opening them to let the breezes flow through you'd be letting in all the bugs too ...

No A/C for me! Just open windows and doors, fans and the breeze.

Even in August? Now that I live at the beach it is cooler but when it's really hot I still run the AC for about 15 min at night jsut to cool down the room.
But isn't STX a tad cooler than STT? Or was I just looking at weather on off days? I know they are only 50 miles apart.

The airport on STT is on the south side and I live on the north side and one of the first things people notice when they visit for the first time is how much the temp drops the instant you cross to the north side. We don't have AC either, just a box fan and it's comfortable.

The break-in Meowruff was speaking about was his CAR while he was diving.

Nope...my house doesn't even have a/c installed. I live at a very high elevation where it rarely gets above 80. The higher you are, the cooler. In the summer I keep the porch doors open at night to allow the breeze in, and have the ceiling fan on. In the winter, it gets too cold to have the doors open so I usually just use the fan. If it is really cold (60's), then I don't even turn the fan on, and am usually sleeping under a mound of blankets. I've lived by the beach and it seemed to always be hot.

While driving!! Crazy!
While diving. He was out diving, and their car was broken into while it sat by the beach. That's how I understood it.

Update...
Yes, the car incident occurred at the beach. We had taken our guests diving, and returned to the car to find the window broken out and the items inside stolen. Normally, we leave the car unlocked and have no valuables inside, but since we had guests - and they insisted on bringing "things", we told them to hide everything under the seats, etc. And, of course, we locked the car. Dumb mistake! We would've been better off just putting the items on top of the car so they wouldn't have had the trouble of going through the car to find the items.
Back to the dog situation...
I went to the police station this afternoon to file a formal complaint. I'm a very detailed person, and had four pages of documented calls, etc. that have taken place since October. When I told them I wanted to file a complaint regarding the barking dogs, they told me that they couldn't do anything about barking dogs. So, I said, "Just a minute please." I pulled out my cell phone and put on the recorder, and repeated what he had said, "So, you mean that even though there is a noise ordinance past midnight, and I was told that I could come down here to file a complaint, that I'm not allowed to file a complaint? And, you are telling me that there is nothing that you can do to assist me?" I know that he was ticked off, but he said, "Uh, just a minute," then walked into the back room. Miraculously, he returned with paper and started writing down information. Before I knew it, I had a case number and my report had been filed.
So, we'll see...
