Eagle nest live camera in Davenport Iowa. 2 of the 3 eggs have hatched and she is sitting on the baby eagles. This morning both parents were in the nest feeding them fish. Very cool.

Thanks Sky. We watched for a while today. Another good one is Africam. They have they have 3 different locations. Our favorite is Tembe.

just tuned in at the perfect time to see them feed one of the eaglets and then cover them up to keep them warm. Always fun to see nature in action.

They are both there now. Feeding, then changing of the guard.

Edit to add. I was curious and looked this up. The eaglets will stay in the nest for 10 to 12 weeks before they can fly.

Thanks Sky. I missed the event ; I hope I see the next one.
I love the way the parents "make a tight fist" of their feet and talons when navigating within the nest so as to avoid accidently injuring the eaglets. What remarkable characters! Fledging will be a momentous occasion when they leave their nest and take to the sky! With both a sadness and a joy, we'll say "good-bye" and offer our "thanks for sharing these precious months of your lives with us."

This is so interesting! It's very windy up there today. Mom was covering the babies and balancing herself against the strong winds. Suddenly the dad showed up with a fish (I think, it looked like one) and ate some of it, then left it on the upper right of the nest. He took off for a short while, but showed back up and there was a changing of the guard. Mom has flown off. I need to get off this laptop and get to work, but the eagles are fascinating to watch!

What an interesting study this has become!

The refrigerator is well stocked. Yesterday it appeared to contain a hefty portion of meat as well as the fish. The babies enjoyed it immensely. Dinner was served at about 5:30 PM - ET tonight after which all three eaglets took to basking in the sunlight.

During the day, the largest of the three (Ihe wee puffball bigshot) has taken to parading around the nest, instead of remaining tucked under the feathers of the parent. So young with a mind of its own already!

Just a note: At times the video seems to freeze or will state 'paused'. When either happens, merely click on the "refresh" at the right of the link at the top of the screen. You will return to the dark screen with the arrow. Click on the arrow and the camera will immediately resume - (for those who may not know.)

G'evening Everyone:

I'm getting a bit concerned about chick number three (3) - the smallest (the "runt of the litter" if you will.)
While his appetite seems healthy and he is able to get a respectable portion of food at feeding (due to the lack of sibling aggressive competition at this point/ stage of development, he is simply not growing proportionally given his present age. The other two are thriving, adding weight, and growing rapidly.

"Survival of the Fittest/ The Law of Natural Selection" rules in the environment - assuring that only the "genetically strong" will thrive and perpetuate the species If there exists a genetic anomaly, I am wondering if it may be an inability for this particular eaglet to assimilate his food. This would result in nutritional deficiency - fatal in the wild. ..birds with this affliction would also lack the strength and stamina to compete with another sibling (s) and not survive to maturity. It is rare for Eagles to rear three young. I hope this family will be the exception!

This is an observation I wanted to share with other Eagle Cam viewers.

This evening we see one chick moving around the nest and the head of another one peeking out from under mom. I hope all three make it.

G'day:

I'm pleased to see that the family has been doing well these past five days; PeeWee - as the youngest chick is referred to - has a great appetite and more often than not steps right up to the plate and in front of the older siblings during some feedings to gain the parents attention. Today, after everyone had lunch, PeeWee stayed for a second serving and, consequently, enjoyed a freshly caught fish! The five day age difference between him and the first hatched sibling is very obvious in terms of size and overall maturity. A 2 day different exists between the 1st and 2nd hatched chicks. I do hope he remains strong and diligent and we have three that fledge this season.

Soon, Alcoa will be seeking names for the eaglets and, I believe, will turn to the the EagleCam viewers for ideas. I have two sets of names in mind:

1 - St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St John

2 - Endeavour, Discovery, and Atlantis (now, who are they???)

The family is well and pulled through some nasty stormy/ windy weather recently. PeeWee, the smallest of the group, is still playing "catch-up" although he is five days younger than the oldest eaglet. Eagle watchers are cheering him on!

Naming is ongoing through this week also.

Looks like they are starting to change color. The largest shows some black feathers coming in and a bit of white on it's head. I hope to be watching when they fly away.

I have become addicted to watching this true 'reality' show! Yesterday the babies gave me several scares by staying so close to the left side, where it appears the bad weather of a couple of nights ago took out some limbs. Those heavy little bottoms kept them anchored in the nest thank goodness Their funny big yellow clown feet are so cute. Today looks to be another windy one... What a fascinating look at nature.
