I use USPS Priority Mail for much of my shipping from the states. Priority Mail has usually taken 3-5 days from the states. Sometimes 7 days. The last three packages have all taken over two weeks. Anyone else noticed a change?

I've had shipments coming every 4-5 days since before Christmas and the delivery on all has been timely.
None were late. All priority came within 3-4 days and the first class within 6 days.

Ordered a part on Dec. 13 and it was shipped on Dec. 14 USPS Priority. It finally go to Cateno, PR on Dec 31 and was scanned out to STX on Jan 2. We picked it up on January 14! Now, that's a real priority shipment. I mentioned it to the clerk at the P.O. and she laughed.
I always put the USPS tracker on items when they are shipped so I can obtain an email at every scan. Not sure where it was between PR and STX for 12 days!

I had a USPS priority mail (3-day) envelope get lost. The scanning record shows it clearly made it to the Gallows Bay sub-station ("Available for pickup" status), yet they can't find it. In talking to one clerk, this scenario happens, especially around Christmas, and they have to do a Spring cleaning" to find all of the missing packages. In the future if I am sending anything important, I will pay the extra freight for EXPRESS mail.

What's more frustrating is that the desk clerks could not do anything about it, but said they had to wait until a manager was present to look for the package. Still no luck in finding the package, even after driving to the Richmond post office and speaking with the manager directly about it.

Many of our boxes recently have been come with notice that they were inspected by HLS.

A few years back we quit our wholesale business to USA after they held $15000 of merchandise for over a month.

It took us days to find out they were at customs in PR

When the goods were finally released, our customers did not want them!

too late for the season1

Didn't matter to HLS... they all got their $$$.

Maybe all the guns and drugs they are finding is slowing everything down!

I just got a package that was sent Priority Mail on December 3rd - it arrived on January 16th. It's terrible.

It's been the holiday season and it may not be a localized back-up you're seeing but a back-up further down the line. In any event and for what it's worth I've experienced no delays at all on STT and, much to my amazement, have received priority packages very timely throughout the holidays.

Many years ago an entire trailer load of mail bound for the VI was found parked up in PR's USPS grounds.
If I recall correctly, it had been sitting there for a very long time. Maybe someone else can remember the details.

I rec'd a Express Mail envelope right before Christmas that took 6 days to arrive.
Sometimes the mail is fast and sometimes it is not. The real pain is having to go to the Post Office to constantly check to see if something has arrived if you have no tracking number since the majority of us do not recieve our mail at our homes.

Just part of what makes island living so "special."

I picked up package yesterday sent from Texas, 3-day USPS, on Tuesday. Can't explain it, it worked well for me this time!

sent a package priority from the states, to a friend with a box at Gallows Bay. Took 4 days to get to stx, but they sent it to Richmond...tracking said it went out for delivery..took 2 more days before it got to GB post office, and no one at either post office could tell me anything, during or after.

I send a 9 to 12 oz. first class mail envelope every Monday to FL and it always gets there Thursday or Friday.

I am watching a package now. A new pair of shoes, shipped from New Jersey. USPS Priority Mail 3-day, insured. That is the service level shown on the tracking information.

Shipped on Jan 10. By Jan 13 it had made it to Philadelphia. By Jan 18, it was in Chicago. So 8 days after shipment it is further away than it started.

I bet it takes another week to arrive, at least.

If your lucky! Will be interesting to see how long it take to get from Catano, PR. to STX. It is 90 miles you know.

Consider the fact that winter weather affects our deliveries just as much as it effects our travelers.
When places and things are snow bound and can't make deadlines to get people and our goods back and forth, it does effect us all.
Consider all of the weather, flight and plane delays. We may have great weather but getting here depends on how it is in the states.

USPS has a page to check for weather-related delays.

[about.usps.com]

Iowa and South Dakota are the only locations right now showing delays. There is an alert from 1/9 for inbound international shipments to NYC and Chicago as international flights were delayed, so who knows if that affected anything - but that was 10 days ago. There are no flight delays right now, and most from the "vortex" were only a day or two around 1/7.

I seriously doubt that inclement weather had anything to do with transferring a package from Catano, PR to STX in 14 days! I don't remember any inclement weather during that time!

This is true! PR seems to be our black hole of deliveries gone wrong.

I shipped a package on Dec. 13th. They assure me it's still on a boat somewhere. I did opt for the sheapeat shipping but I didn't think it take 2 months lol. Yikes.

I gave up on USPS after three packages in a row arrived a month late and torn open - and I mean REALLY torn open, to where the contents were half missing from one. I switched to VI Cargo at that point. I shipped to VI Cargo's FL port via USPS and then paid to have it brought to STX from there. It was faster and affordable - often many times the USPS to FL was free, which made the shipping cost a wash vs. shipping USPS to the island.

I'll jump in here. We shipped three boxes, same size with exact same contents, same day. One arrived on island within 10 days, the other two boxes came two weeks later and heavily damaged. Go figure.

We shipped boxes back to the states recently - 20 boxes over a month's period. The boxes we shipped at the end of the month arrived to FL before some of the ones we shipped at the start of the month.
