Any one insured with these guys?
I just got a call, 6:30 PM, from someone in STT claiming to be a adjuster that is coming to my place Saturday afternoon/ evening to photograph the contents of my house
He claimed that the request came from Inter Ocean
I told him he better have a court order to get through the door
In 50 + years of having insurance I have never had a request like this from any insurance company
Plus it is not like I have insured anything of great value....I have nothing...Just the normal crap we all accumulate
I'm on STX

I had insurance with them for years but never had that experience. Sounds a little fishy

When I took out the policy in 2012 they had me fill out a inventory sheet, that I thought was a little strange and take some interior pictures
I was not trying to insure a million $$ painting or art work
I agree...smells of a scam
Going to see them tomorrow

So if you get robbed how do you plan to prove what was stolen and receive restitution from your insurance company? Do they take your word for it?

Call your insurance broker and confirm...totally sounds fishy. Everyone should take photos of their home inside and out including all of the contents in overview photos and in detail for high dollar stuff. Load it onto a thumb drive - multiple thumb drives and stash in different locations. Same with all of your important documents. scan if you can, photograph if you can't.

You should call your insurance company.
If they did not authorize the home visit, call the police.
Maybe they'd be interested in meeting the person that shows up at your home for the inspection of your contents.

If it's a scam, then you can bet you're not the only one that he's making an appointment with.

Will be interested to know what your insurance company has to say.

Pictures of your home, contents and valuables are important to document and keep safe, update as things change. Good luck.

We had an adjuster call us a few months back. Called after 6:00PM. He was from STT. We live on STX. We have insurance with Executive.
I thought it was strange also, we had been with the company for almost 10 years. Never had anyone come out and take PICS.
I called Executive and they say that they were sending him out.
I thought to myself, well it would of been nice if Executive gave us a heads up that he would be calling. I thought it was a scam at first.

Went to Inter Ocean today and they knew nothing about this.
After some BS they said that the insurance company, Guardian, may have requested the pictures....But they were just guessing
Either way, it is going to take more than a blind phone call for me to let someone into my home
Plus what does the insurance company care what the contents are
If you insure for $5,000 or $5 mil, the insurance actuaries know what is in line or not
If they did this to 100% of their customers, that would be their policy
If they just pick and choose when and who they do this to, it is profiling or discrimination

Ever hear of insurance fraud?

Would you like a lesson on how to rip off an insurance company that insures things that don't exist?

So I insure my $500.00 furniture for $5,000.00 and send pretty pictures.
I sell it to a friend for $500.00 and call the cops and say I was burglarized and my furniture was stolen. I give my insurance company a fake receipt and a police report and I just made a $5000.00 profit. Not bad!!

I know where you can buy a 52" TV right now for $50.00
It doesn't work, but your insurance company doesn't know that. Wink Wink.

My point is - if I was the insurance company, I would keep my investigators busy instead of sitting behind a desk waiting for a claim to be filed. I want them proactive making sure I don't get ripped off by scammers.
