Best Way to Get Online Items to STT before we move?

Hello,
My husband and I will be moving into our St. Thomas rental home June 18th. We want to ship items piece by piece as we find them online. (Amazon, Crate and Barrel, etc.) What is the best way to do this? Is a private mailbox an option? Will they keep numerous large boxes until we arrive in June?

Thank you for any advice on this!

~Kasi

Nobody has unlimited storage, and none of them assume you're going to be using their service for long term storage. To have packages for more than a few days is, imo, long term for a mail box. The post office gives you a time limit before they send it back.

I would contact one of the month to month storage facilities. I know Fortress Storage offers private mail boxes so they might be your best bet for storing your boxes. Not sure if they have a website, but their phone number from the phone book is 340.776.3678.

If you have a USPS mailbox they will hold the packages for 30 days as long as you notify them. Otherwise it's a couple of weeks.

Don't you have to show ID to get a PO Box? Or any box for that matter. I don't remember what I had to do for the boxes I have or have had.

Now that they have those lockers, I feel compelled to get my package right away to free up the locker. But, I sent myself a large priority box last week and still got a pick up slip. According to Mr. Caines at Frenchtown post office, those boxes don't fit in the lockers.

Sometimes I can't decide if the almost daily sunshine is worth the stupidity you have to put up with on a daily basis. The next time I'm in the post office I am going to hold the box up against the lockers. I'm pretty sure a large priority box fits. With photo in hand, will voice my complaint.

If you want a temporary mail service until you can set things up on a more permanent basis you can check the VI telephone directory.
However, I have done so for you.

There's Fortress Mail Depot, right in town, 776-3878
Mail Plus at Tutu Park Mall, in the country, 714-5068
Red Hook Mail Services on east end, 779-1890
Mailto at Crown Bay Marina, towards the airport, 776-4324
They have a website listed: mailstopvi.com
All are area code 340.

Ms411- It depends on the package being picked up.
Some require ID, most don't

I just opened a private mail box yesterday at Mail Stop in Crown Bay Marina. I needed 2 forms of ID, but the process was very simple. They do hold packages.

But not everyone ships here, I've had some of my stuff I've just ordered shipped stateside, so it can be sent over with my other goods.

[www.mailstopvi.com] The website seems to answer most of your questions. I'd just call or email them to see if you can open the box from off island.

Good luck and welcome. I'm loving it here, best move I ever made.

One way is to use a consolidator shipping service out of Miami like St. Thomas Cargo or CaribTrans, etc.. They will hold all items, no matter how big or small, for up to 30 days free. So you can start shopping now and gave it all sent to one place. Then you time the arrival to yours and they deliver everything at once. Their fees are very reasonable considering. They'll even palletize it all for you, no extra charge. They all charge by the cubic foot, between 2.85 and 3.50/cf. insurance extra but you can decide item by item to take insurance or not. The goods leave Miami on Thursday and offload Monday. Hope this helps!
