Not sure if this has been discussed before. What is the vacant housing used for. Going to be used for. Or?

I think the Gov't leased it back to LB and it is used for employee housing like it was before.

LB = LimeTree Bay Terminals. It is the former HOVENSA refinery in the south shore.

The area is called Cottage. They are housing employees and contractors there. They are three bedroom, two bath homes with good size kitchen/dining room, living room, large insulated attics (lots of storage up there), central air, storage shed, patio, and most have a good size yard. Free Dish Network and internet. I'd live there if I could!

Lime Tree Bay is in the process of readying ten more houses in Cottage. They are in an area that they originally said they would not use due to the amount of work required. And here they are now bringing them back to life. They are expected to be done by the end of this month.

This will account for almost every house in Cottage. Not bad! thumbs up

And the govt is collecting rent. Wonder if it shows up in the general fund or just "POOF" disappears?

That property (and many more valuable parcels transferred) are now owned by the USVI Government under the agreement with Limetree that closed on January 5, 2016. Those residences are leased and managed by Property and Procurement -- as a normal part of the budget. I have been told that the terms are favorable to the USVI. The income from the houses along with the many millions of dollars yearly in other contractual amounts, fees, increased secondary taxes and lowered fuel (auto and aviation) prices obtained in that deal, are monitored by a specific, designated gov compliance oversight official.
