Mosler is a big proponent of deficit spending. In other words have the government spend money and don't worry about how much debt piles up. So he is no different than Mapp in that respect.

Will "WHITE" necessarily come into play when your pension is quickly dissappearing, or your hours are being cut, or your hourly rate of pay is being reduced, or your medical benefits are in jeopardy, or your kids educational opportunities are slipping away ect, ect, ect... ???

Hey, don't shoot the messenger.
Look how many times he ran for the delegate to congress position.
Did he win? No.
Depends who else runs against Mapp but odds aren't in his favor.

Thank you for acknowledging the racism that goes on here in VI.

Trying times are coming quickly. My point is that if it gets bad enough, and it sounds like its going to be, a man with his financial background my be just the guy we "ALL" need.

And not to spark off another over the top political rant, but... who would have guessed who the 45th President of the United States would be a year ago?

As the old adage goes "It's the economy stupid".

I'd give him a chance.

Mosler may be exactly who we need. Who would be better prepared to fix the economy than an economic guru. Also, wealthy enough to hopefully be immune from self serving corruption as presently exists with our current Governor.

I don't believe that racism is going to be a driving force in the next election. As a Caucasian transplant from the states, I have found most Cruzan's to be very welcoming. I consider several to be very close friends. At the end of the day, people are simply people when treated with respect.

I know that they are fed up with the current state of the government. Feel hopeless in the current state of the economy. Their will be an upheaval in the next election. Maybe not Mosler, but certainly a candidate that will shake up the status quo. Rest assured that Mapp's days are numbered.

I think the perception is possibly not so much white vs black type racism but a prevailing prejudice against outsiders telling locals what to do.
That was the reasoning behind why WAPA didn't get sold to the stateside company, whose name now eludes me, many years ago. The attitude then was "we don wan no white cheese coming in, telling we wah to do."
I'm not so sure that's changed.

It was Southern Energy that proposed buying WAPA under Turnbull.

Just to throw in my own two cents...

Trump got elected for many reasons, however, the one that put him over the top in my opinion was.... Drain the swamp.

People got tired of politicians and their friends getting rich, as we pay and pay for the same old lip service. It's going to reach a point here, where everyone, is just done with the political BS. I just think the bond downgrades and general attitude, or lack there of, of the politicians is going to be their downfall in 2018.

I think you're right. Police Commissioner White was black, and was stymied so badly because he wasn't local, and doing things the local way, that he got fed up and quit, and went back to the mainland.

If he is perceived as an outsider it doesn't matter if he or she is Black or White, they won't win

in 2010 he ran as an independent for Senate in CT (while also resident in stx?) and got .98% of the vote--11,000 plus, when victor got close to 700,000 votes

sadly we have a larger voting population that will only vote by the party that is thrown and the t shirt that was given or last name. This same group will say nope he's white without listening to his platform. Me I don't care if you are green or purple, if you are qualified and have an actual plan, you got my vote. Let's hope more think that way. Listen to candidates, see what they stand for.

What has Mosler done for the islands he has made his home? On St. Croix he is mostly known for Mosler's Tile Pile and his desecration of Grassy Point. You can't expect anyone to vote for you when you buy a landmark, fence it off, and erect an eyesore on it. Mosler has a lot of interesting economic ideas but he has been consistently tone deaf where St Croix is concerned.

And don't forget that people have been coming here promising change and leaving carnage since 1493. Crucians are rightly hesitant to trust newcomers, especially those who do not immerse themselves into the community they find here.

I am a little confused here. In 2010 he ran for Senate in Connecticut but he lives in St. Croix? Does he live in St. Croix or Connecticut, which location is primary resident?

Somehow, I don't think the finances will keep us afloat till 2018. The feds will probably have something to say about who the next leaders are before then. Get rid of two thirds of the senators first. Then sell off the utility and hospitals...

I've heard alot recently about him buying and desecrating Grassy Point with the house but why the anger on him? Why not at the person that sold it to him? I never see any activity there at the house when i drive by, does he or anyone live there?

He built it for his daughter but now it's a rental. It's still Grassy Point in my mind not Point Elizabeth like the sign. It's still accessible to surfers.

optimist with low expectations on STX

When conditions are right, there are few places better for surfing.
