Jobs in the VI

What is the best resource to use for job hunting in the virgin islands (STJ specifically)? I assume word of mouth. But are there any good online resources to use other than Craigslist/Indeed.com?

Not looking for a "career" position- part time, retail/restaurant work, etc.

Thanks!

Except for the most senior skilled positions finding a job on STJ in particular will go to on island residents -- Craigslist will give you a small idea of what kind of jobs are available at best.

Yes, I will be on island next month once we move. Just wondered the best way to go about finding what is available. Does connections have job postings?

Being on island with access to local newspapers such as Tradewinds on STJ as well as the bulletin board at Connections, word of mouth and making the rounds, updated resume in hand.

You can also check the Island Trader and the VI Daily News on STT, the bulletin board at Red Hook Mail Services and well as word of mouth and making the roads in person of places that appeal and suit your resume and abilities.

Connections on STJ has the most job postings. But the best way to go about it is to just walk around with resumes and talk to people. Be persistent. If you are going to be looking for a restaurant job next month, it might be tough. Although we are aways away from being dead, things are slowing down and a lot of the places close down for a month or two starting in August to reopen in October sometime. The excepting might be if you are a cook, there always seems to be openings for line cooks. To get an idea of restaurant closings you can check out www.stjohnspice.com They post a list of closings. Too early for this years closings, but you can check out last years to get an idea.
