... they do seem to be pretty disorganized. They're polite enough they just don't seem to keep track of things well.

HA! Welcome to the Virgin Islands! Unfortunately, this level of organizational skills is pretty common in every government agency. When you pay your taxes, you get a stamped copy. When you pay bills, you get a stamped copy. When you submit paperwork, you keep a copy. All part of the not-so-friendly-to trees service we receive... big grin

Re: Island time and the slower pace. The VI police finally determined yesterday that the young lady who was found in a cistern at an abandoned house on August 3rd was the victim of a homicide.

Inefficiency and no automation enables the "unqualified friends and family" hiring policy.

You have to wait for an autopsy to be conducted before an official cause of death is released, despite what appears to be obvious. Also, there may be investigative reasons why they are not immediately releasing all info to the public. To the OP & other qualified, interested ppl- stick with the police application process. Being an officer anywhere is a thankless job. We need officers (and teachers) on St. Croix.

Why would you want to put your life on the line as a VIPD officer for $15 bucks an hour? And, as if that wasn't bad enough, they will take a good chunk of your pay and put it in GERS (government retirement system) where you'll never see it again.
