The calm before the storm.
Saw some pics of what a gorgeous day it is.

I'm sorry Pammerjo!
I've got a friend that was supposed to be leaving on Wednesday for vacation. That's probably not going to happen.
People visiting on vacation here are leaving early.
Travel insurance is good to have if traveling during hurricane season.

Pammerjo - unplug all your tv's and electronic equipment and everything else. Don't leave perishable food items in refrigerator or freezer.
Good luck.

As busy as the beach are today you'd never know there's a hurricane on it's way.

Had a nice time at Magens today. Got the yard furniture and pool stuff cleaned up. We are as ready as we will be save for sandbags which hopefully fire station in Dorothea will have

thanks! nah - I don't leave anything in here food-wise when I leave except a few cans of soda for guests. I DO have a ton of water and non-perishables in the (unlikely) (I'm being optimistic) event that I'm turned away at the airport and have to weather it out. Otherwise my house keeper will take them.

I'm supposed to have a guest checking in on the 13th but we've been keeping in touch all week and I think she's finally ready to admit that her trip probably isn't going to happen. sad

Each subsequent update the cone gets further and further south. This is getting more and more real on STT

Yes it sucks! I hope it makes that NW turn soon enough to spare STT STJ the BVIs Anguilla Antigua and Barbuda and st Martin...but that is looking less likely that Irma will miss them.????

The tracker from stormcaribe was at 100+ miles 2 days ago, 77 miles yesterday, 44 miles today. The trend is against us.

European model has direct hit for STJ and STT now. NHC has been slowly revising their track closer and closer as well. Bunker down.

The 11AM update from NOAA doesn't look any better. Official Warning now in place for the outer islands and a Watch in place for VI and PR. At least it looks like the worst of it will pass through during daylight hours.

Yeah. That thing. I look directly at it and it's just a constant reminder of that pig and also it's ugly.

Okay...back to obsessing about Irma....

Public schools are delaying their opening on September 5.
USCG and Port Authority to issue statements regarding port closings for sea and air travel.

AA has issued an Irma travel alert for the islands allowing travelers to reschedule their flight to sometime within September 4 - 12 without a change fee. How generous.

I've had a monstrous two story house under construction for 2 years next door to me. It's got windows installed and its surrounded by very sketchy looking scaffolding.
There hasn't been anyone over there in weeks. Nobody is prepping the place for this incoming hurricane.
I know that scaffolding is going flying, through the windows, through the house, God only knows where it's going to land.

I'm praying not into any of the surrounding neighbors homes.

Can you contact the owner/person who is building it and say "dude, wtf?" last night I was looking at that MONSTER going up in Botany Bay - the one higher up from Villa Pearl and was thinking...ooo that's not good.

Scaffolding could certainly go flying in a wicked storm even though it probably doesn't have much wind resistance. It doesn't take long at all to take down scaffolding and chain it up to something on the ground if not store it. Is it on a steep hill?
