Call DPNR.
TAKE PICTURES.
Honestly, not sure it'll do any good but best to document.

Puerto Rico and Florida declared under State of Emergency, but what about USVI?

We're now under a State of Emergency in FL.
Indeed, I wondered why VI wasn't.
Price freezes don't go into effect until it's declared.

Irma is now
Cat 4
130mph
144 mb
Moving West @ 13 mph.
She's getting bigger.
6-9 ft. expected storm surge in islands.

Wish the bi### would just speed up and jog to north.
Slow moving at this intensity and current track ... not good.
Good luck, everyone.
Keep yourselves, loved ones, pets safe!

The DPNR Police were speeding past Lockhart today with lights flashing and sirens blasting. Hope there wasn't a boating accident.

No breeze today near me, and that is highly unusual. Calm before the storm?

Always. It's like everything is holding its breathe. Enjoy it.
Don't be deceived by an absolutely gorgeous day before a major hurricane.
After Hugo and Marilyn, not a leaf left on trees.
Buckle up and batten down.
Stay safe.

140mph still moving west @ 16.7N

If it doesn't take this WNW or NW shift soon, it's going to come straight at St.Croix or in between the two islands.

Anagada is only 30 feet above sea level.
They got pounded in hurricane Luis.
All of our islands get pounded in major tropical hurricanes.
But as populations grow, building codes and environmental standards lessen, we all become more at risk, here and worldwide.
How many hurricane impacts can we, our homes, infrastructures, our first responders, our resources, our governments withstand?
It's worldwide.

Sorry that JohnnyWho? thinks I'm a miserable person.
I'd rather not stick my head in the sand nor do I care about his opinion.

Has there ever been a direct hit or a near miss from a cat 4? Hugo was a strong 3 and Marylin was only a 2!

I believe Hurricane Hugo was a Category 4 when it passed over St. Croix...and, I think that Hurricane Marilyn was a Category 3 (although I know that there is a great deal of controversy over her strength. Many of my friends who experienced Marilyn said that it had to be more than a Cat 2 due to the devastation.

Hugo was a 4 and what made it bad was how slow it moved and how big it was. Irma is moving at 14 mph and I think Hugo was moving at 20 mph and it stalled on the south shore on St. Croix. I was 4 when Hugo hit but I hear the stories and I remember my roof getting blown off and going to the neighbors for refuge. I was older for Marilyn but I just knew it was bad but St. Thomas got it worst.

I personally think houses are better built on islands after going through multiple hurricanes people learn.

Yeah my grandma lost half of her roof for Marilyn. I doubt it was a Cat 2. She howled and I seen a piece of galvanize cut a tree in two outside of my window. Looked like a samaurai slicing something.

If Marilyn was only a 2 and Hugo ONLY a 3 then we'll totally, completely and absolutely screwed (which I hope not) with Irma!
Winds in Culebra, during Hugo topped 175 mph, sustained.

In case, some people may need a reminder of what these hurricanes can do
check it out.

Building codes and environmental standards get stronger after major disasters and hurricanes strike.

Earl passed 15 to 20 miles north of Anegada at category 4 in 2010.

Can we not politicize a GD Cat 4, possibly Cat 5 storm when she gets here? Lives are at stake.
