windy.com showing 90mph gusts maxium on wed. Let's hope that stands.
The 11pm shows it *slightly* further south. still like 40 mph from us.

I'll take 40 miles. That's what we had with Irma.

If it passes 40 miles south of user will get the NE quadrant which is the worst part of a hurricane so we can plan on much worse damage than we got from Irma. This will be so cruel and unfair to all the relief work going on!!!!

As always. Best to be prepared. Which Is hard to do in STJ at the moment! The newly placed tarps are going to be able to handle much. I hope this goes away! But get ready STX. You have been such an amazing support to us and we want you all to be safe.

With Irma the strongest gusts came from WNW and WSW on STT. If the eye of Cat 3 passes south of STX then STT and STJ should be OK.

Sent most of our extra hurricane stash to STJ/STT, thinking we had time to replenish. Then procrastinated on the replenishment tasks last week. Ooops. At least the thieves who tried to steal our portable generator failed.

I certainly could've read the maps wrong, but looked like a big difference in the time Maria would hit STX. Could someone tell me which is correct?

Well it looks like we have the official hurricane watch now. The map shows it at SE PR 2PM Wed, I'd guess we'd start seeing heavier winds around 2AM.

Someone here suggested this website, which I have found useful:

http://stormcarib.com/closest.htm

As of 11:46 pm Sunday Night it says:

Results for St.Croix (17.7N, 64.8W):
The approximate Closest Point of Approach (CPA) is located near 17.4N, 64.9W or about 20.3 miles (32.7 km) from your location. The estimated time of when the center of the storm will be at that location is in about 2 days, 7 hours and 22 minutes from now (Wednesday, September 20 at 7:06AM AST).

There was such a huge outpouring of support from STX to STJ and we cannot thank you enough. I know That there have been efforts stateside in getting supplies to STJ via STX then to be boated here. I asked one of the organizers of one of the efforts to consider leaving those item in STX. I know lots of you gave your back up supplies and haven't had time to replace them yet. I really hope you don't need them, but sure hope you have them if you need them. And I know that there are lots of STJ folks in STX right now as well. Be safe everyone.

LOL speee1dy, I hope it works!

Yes as STTsailor said, God help us.

I am really concerned about what might happen.

This is cruel, it shouldn't be.

Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold
Or whether the weather be hot,
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not.

This is the actual track for Hugo in 1989.

The 11 am Monday NHC forecast for Maria is now Cat 4, 150 MPH as it passes by STX. (A Cat 4 is below 156 MPH.)

Results for St.Croix (17.7N, 64.8W):

The approximate Closest Point of Approach (CPA) is located near 17.3N, 65.0W or about 29.5 miles (47.5 km) from your location. The estimated time of when the center of the storm will be at that location is in about 1 day, 18 hours and 58 minutes from now (Wednesday, September 20 at 7:00AM AST).

Carl, I'd say that Marie looks to follow Hugo's track. Let's hope and pray not! Wow!

Yeah I don't like that, thanks Carl! <groan>

STAY SAFE EVERYONE AND PRAY!

I am moving to another location to shelter, and with Sprint and Innovative not working at full capacity I probably won't post until sometime after the storm passes.

I am SO GLAD that it looks like the worst will miss those islands that were devastated by Irma.
