Can you recommend a structural engineer?

We had a corner of our roof lift during Maria. Finally had an insurance adjuster take a look today and he told us to get a structural engineer to look at it.

Who might you recommend to do this for us?

Preferably STX since that's where our house is located.

Thanks so much for any information you can provide.

Keep in mind that your insurance company's adjuster works for the insurance company, not you. If you need a structural engineer, you're going to want to have a public adjuster in your court too. A public adjuster will result in a much fairer settlement. Taking what the insurance company adjuster offers is leaving money on the table and he'll get a nice bonus.

Derek is on island frequently. He has his PE in the Virgin Islands and is a top notch Structural Engineer (I am also a PE, not structural and know the good from the bad).

We are using him at Villa Madeleine along with our independent adjuster - we had significant roof damage to a large number of units.

Do you have a valid cell phone number for Taylor Babbs?

We've tried to reach him but his landline isn't working.

Thank you for this.

You can pull TAYLOR BABB's snail mail address from the DLCA web site and write him a contact request.
