Gourmet Gallery hasn't reopened so hopefully another store has them. Prefer mixed. Don't remember seeing at Fruit Bowl.

Don't seem to be cheap online so may be comparable price if I buy local?

Preparing for hurricane season 2018.

Any dried food suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

Did you try vita cost.com - if you order when they have a 20% promotion that wipes out the flat $9.99 shipping cost

Thanks. Never heard of vitacost. Will check them out. I'm looking for something other than fruits and nuts. I have some dried tofu chunks from jks that Plaza on St Thomas has sometime.

Buy a food dehydrator and make them yourself.

Vitacost is the bomb!!!!!!

I order every 1.5 months for stuff. Like I said if you time your order with a 20% off promo the shipping is covered even if you only order $50 worth of stuff.

Vitacost actually has the 20% promo right now. I didn't find dried tofu chunks, but they do have dried mushrooms. Not sure if their price beats what you find on STT.

I used to do this. With the cost of WAPA, it's more expensive than buying pre-made dried foods, unless you're off-grid or maybe if you have grid-tied solar. Also, because our humidity is so high, I found some foods simply would not dry as much as I liked, even if I ran the dehydrator for twice as long as it would take stateside.

Use your car as a dehydrator - cheap - and works very well.

I didn't think DIY would be cost effective and was afraid of humidity.

All be it not in the Caribbean, my mother used our family cars to dehydrate all sorts of fruit and vegetables when I was growing up. We would drive around with pans of apple and pears slices in the car. My parents were great gardeners and canned, dried and froze mountains of produce each year.

It seems that the 20% off promo at vitacost disappeared. I saw it earlier today. I always wait for that promo to place an order because shipping is always $9.99.
