St. Croix month to month or long term vacation rental?

Hello! My family and I are relocating to St. Croix on March 27th and we are looking for a place from March 27th - April 30th to stay while we shop around for a more long term residence.

Does anybody know of any apartments, condos, or houses that are month to month? or long term vacation rentals?

We are 2 groups (1 family of 4 with a cat) and a couple. We are all family and our ideal location would be close to one another, (same condo grouping, apartment complex, or same hotel) or a home large enough to accommodate us all and pet friendly for our cat.

Thanks for reading!

Try AirBNB or HomeAway...lots of listing there.

Just a heads up --- we have been on island 5 weeks and still looking for a place that suits our needs. Lots of places out there -- but beware -- pictures and amenities list most often differ vastly from what you actually walk into.
Good luck.

One month is not unusual for vacation rental, not long term. Check out these condos that might allow cats (or may not for renters)

Candle Reef
Carambola Saman Villas
Carambola Sweet Lime II
Carden Beach
Carlton
Coakley Bay
Colony Cove
Fort Augusta
Good Hope Villas
Maison de Poincy
Peter's Farm
Plantation at Southgate
Questa Verde
Schooner Bay
St Croix by the Sea (STC)
Sugar Beach
Sunset Beach
Villa Madeleine
Gentle Winds

Don't forget VRBO and stcroixrentavilla.com

Villa Madeleine has a "NO PETS" policy for renters unless rental is for a year minimum.

I would say that now would be a good time to just look at the short term rentals available and find and contact the owner (not through VRBO/Homeaway/management company, ect) and make an offer. People may be willing to negotiate a much better rate because they don't have as much business right now. Please note, you WILL have to pay hotel tax for a stay less than 90 days. That is another 12.5% on the gross of the rental. If the owner/manager is not charging/paying hotel tax on a stay less than 90 days they are breaking the law.... which is on them I guess...but just wanted you to know so you aren't surprised by a total cost jump when it comes time to sign on the dotted line.

You must be kidding! There has never been a busier time for short term rentals than I've seen right now. My AirBNB booking are way up over this time last year. Also, FEMA per diems are huge.

LOL! St. John is a different story I guess! The 'cheaper' places are booking pretty quickly, but the mid to high range places have lots of openings. There were several owners who did the FEMA/Relief worker thing right away, but there are others who are trying to turn short term into longer term (4-6 months) to just get through this year. People who are still working on damage to their homes are willing to wheel and deal just to have some income.
