VI Bar Review Course

Afternoon Everyone,

I've been lurking on the forum for months and have asked a few questions but have not really responded to anything since I haven't lived there since 1987 (when we had NO TV, NO CABLE, and NO INTERNET). I did have a hard time not responding to the posts regarding Hard to Adjust but I bit my tongue and kept my mouth shut. I have visited since, several times, and am scheduled to visit at the end of June again but am looking forward to when I finally move back for good.

Oh yeah, my point: I just received my packet for application to the VI Bar. Hopefully, I will be able to take it in July of this year or February of 2007. Does anyone have any recommendations on a bar review course for the VI? I have to take the entire MBE also since I took my last Multistate more than 5 years ago (not something I look forward to).

Thanks for any info, look forward to passing it with flying colors and looking for a job afterwards!

Hey! I'm in the same boat. I've been practicing for 7 years and so I will also have to take the entire exam. I've talked to several attorneys and the course that was recommended to me was from Camille Brusch (sp?). She is an attorney on STT. You can find her on the Internet. Did you also know that if you work for the government (local or federal) that you do not have to take the bar exam? That sounded really appealing to me! I'm not trying to move down there for another 2 years so I have a lot of time to weigh my options. Good luck on the Bar! Let us know how it goes.

I knew about the federal government thing (no bar required) but did not know about the local government. Thanks for the info. I have seen the Camille Brusch info and a couple of others. Wondering which one was the best.

I hadn't planned on moving for another five years but my husband is getting anxious especially since I told him about a job opening at a firm down there (they wanted a vi licensed atty). Thanks for the good luck wish, I'm going to need it!

What part of Texas are you from? I live in the Clear Lake area.

I live in Dallas so moving to St. Croix will be a big and welcome change! I wish that they had reciprocity down there - so many states here do after you've been practicing for 5 years. Taking the bar exam after all this time will be awful! I talked to a guy with the Attorney General's office. They have a civil and criminal division and you don't have to take the bar. I know the pay is probably less than a firm would be, but it sounds like a great way to get your foot in the door and get some experience without the stress and hassle of the bar exam. You'll have to let me know how the exam compares to Texas!
