Gregorian: The Sound of Silence. In comparison to Simon and Garfunkel's original composition and to the recently posted rendition by the heavy metal band - Disturbed - this version by Gregorian brings forth another interesting perspective to the song. Please enjoy...

Carnival of the Animals - The Swan
Camille Saint-Saëns, (1835-1921)

Performed by Yo-Yo Ma, Cello and Philippe Entremont, Piano

"....This "zoological fantasy," one of the most successful examples of humourously themed music in the repertory, has become one of the composer's most popular works. Carnival of the Animals, cast as a suite of 14 short pieces, is scored for an ensemble comprising two pianos, two violins, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, and glockenspiel...."

Hi JJ,
I have found the Pachelbel's Canon and Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata in dubstep absolutely fascinating and it adds a new perspective to the authors' original pieces. I think dubstep classics invite a wider audience appeal and a new appreciation of the classical music movement through other genres. The pieces are handled with respect and thoughtfulness in my opinion. Very nice...

Thank you for sharing these with us!

In this version of Ennio Morricone's Once Upon A Time In The West, the Soprano heard is not the voice of a woman, but is an instrument played by the woman Thereminist - note that she touches no part of the instrument at all when playing the part.

The Theremin is an early electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the Thereminist. It is named after the Westernized name of its Russian inventor, Léon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928.

Instrument family: Electronic musical instrument, Electronic keyboard
Invented: 1920
Related instrument: Ondes Martenot, Electro-Theremin
Inventor: Léon Theremin

Tammy, I couldn't resist posting Alan Sylvestri's Castaway, since it is another favorite of yours. Both Titanic and Castaway go straight to the heart, because of the passion that radiates from each piece. They take command of the heart and relax the mind. The Musical Geniuses of today, like Horner, Williams, Sylvestri, Barry, Morricone, Jablonski, Zimmer, Barber, write passion; they feel passion; they want you to feel their passion through their compositions.

Enjoy the gift they give us.
