I've been following this and have to agree.
Enough is enough.
Had they been Black, Indian, Muslim or Environmentalists, they'd have been dead or in jail weeks ago.
They want to turn the animal sanctuary and refuge into use for private interests to mine, log, hunt and ranch all the while being subsidized by our tax dollars.

Since the main perpetrators are Mormons I'm waiting for the leaders on the right to call for a ban on Mormons.

so you basically have no clue about the situation, the 8th amendment violations or the land seizures by the BLM?

I guess you all support tossing out the double jeopardy laws & think that taking care of your property is an act of terrorism when you accidentally cross your own property line into "the woods".

do any of you actually have any idea about what this "stand off" is about?

Good to see you're all out there critically thinking....

I know the idea that the federal government can't own land is nonsense and Kleepe v. New Mexico is precedent.

I know these jokers get huge breaks grazing their cattle on BLM land compared to private land.

I know no one is forcing anyone to be a rancher.

I know these guys see themselves as fulfilling Mormon prophecy.

I know many a pair of magic underwear were soiled last night.

I know the two convicted of arson on federal land didn't ask for this. I also know their contract with BLM was voided by government because of constant violations and threats from this government mooches.

I know ALL the Bundy's suck off the government teet yet decry the same government.

I know the sovereign citizen movement has zero basis is law or fact.

I know Tarp Man Lavoy got what he wanted.

I realize that. Because I want no one dead. Unlike you who thinks killing criminals in justified.

Can you remind me who posted the following: "when is the drone strike going to be ordered on these tw@twaffles?"

Really? Did you hear that on CNN?
cuz...

Quote

Kleppe v. New Mexico, the Court ruled that the Federal Wild Horse and Burro Act was a constitutional exercise of congressional power under the Property Clause – at least insofar as it was applied to a finding of trespass. The case prohibited the entering upon the public lands of the United States and removing wild burros under the New Mexico Estray Law.

Sounds to me that the case settled NOTHING about federal land ownership.

Read the federalist papers... the FEDERAL government is not suppose to really almost anything outside of DC.. that's supposed to be the states/people property.

Private land?

Please show me these private lands you speak of... over 80% of the state is federally owned & SO MISS MANAGED that they have RAMPANT over population of Deer; constant thousand+ acer fires (due to mismanagement).

Not arson,, TERRORIST ARSON with a 5 year sentence.. they had already served their time, the previous judge had said that giving them the "mandatory minimum" of 5 years for an action that IMPROVED THE VALUE OF THE LAND (yes, back burns make land more valuable) would be in violation of the 8th amendment.

A later judge did exactly that.

Isn't he the one that had the foster children removed.
They were his main source of income.

yes and no.

here's an article on it:
Quote

Robert “LaVoy” Finicum and his wife Jeanette were foster care parents for troubled boys. Finicum estimates that over the past decade, more than 50 boys came through their ranch near Chino Valley, Arizona. The boys often landed there from mental hospitals, drug rehabs and group homes for emotionally distressed youth.

“My ranch has been a great tool for these boys,” Finicum said. “It has done a lot of good.”

his children were taken after the occupation started... so just a dick move by the government.

Kinda hard for me to see a family fostering children (maybe they cannot conceive? who knows...) as anything but a good thing. I dated a foster system worker for a while; those kids need ANY help they can get!

Lavoy had said he was not going to jail, whether he lived to 95 or 55(his age when dead) he was going to live free
[www.myeasternoregon.com]

The BLM has been controlling land since before Cliven Bundy was born. This isn't a new thing. They want something for nothing. If you think this wasn't a land grab try by the people controlling the movement (for mineral and logging access) well we will always disagree.

The Hammonds were convicted by a jury of their peers. They were handed sentences under the mandatory minimum. They were resent ended on appeal to the deserved sentence.

They are lucky to just be going back for that long. You can read a number of articles on the long history of the Hammond's abusing, threatening and bullying the system.

A drone strike is a quick unseen resolution. I'm not happy Lavoy Finicum is dead. He has a large family who obviously loved him. It is a sad outcome.

A couple more have been arrested.
Looks like things are winding down, peacefully, hopefully.
Lavoy is a needless martyr of his own stupidity.
The only thing I'm sorry about is that these gun toting, seditious, criminal, moochers will have a martyr for their ridiculous cause.
Put them all in jail and throw away the key. IMO.

What exactly are you supporting again? Freedom to graze your livestock for free? The "Patriot" movement has way more in common with ISIS than most Americans. This is a Mormon led seditious act. This has the the White Horse Prophecy written all over it

In the end; however, the "patriot's" wives will be left to clean up their husband's poopy Magic Underwear

Sigh. No Alana. What happened to the Hammonds is so wrong. They were charged with a crime and sentenced. Whether they did wrong or not, (I don't think they did), they plea bargained and were sentenced. They served their time and were released. The BLM came back and insisted that they serve the mandatory sentence of a minimum of 5 years so these men were taken back into custody to serve 5 years. I don't think that is legal in anyway. They were also charged with an act of terrorism. Really?????

The men who "took over" the wildlife refuge were protesting what happened to the Hammonds. It's called civil disobedience. I don't know what is in their hearts but they did no harm to anyone or anything by camping out on "government (controlled) land." They were protesting on land owned by the people. It's our land.

Just as you are passionate about environmental issues, I am passionate about loss of freedom and government overreach. Just like you, I try to stand up and support what I believe in. I give you no disrespect.

Yes, I wish I could be there to support them but I have a job and a child to raise and I can support them in other ways.

I don't know if you watched the links to the videos that LiquidFloride posted but maybe it would educate you. Not change your mind but give you a little more information. You could even go further and read about the Hammond case. It is very sad.

In any case, we all have our opinions, causes, and things we believe strongly in. It would be nice if our world was not so PC and we could have intelligent discussions with respect.

Spartygrad95, First I would like to say I really enjoy your posts.

I believe that these ranchers pay a fee for grazing their cattle.

I don't know much about Mormons but I will read the link you provided. Thank you.
