Recycling on STT?

Hey folks:

When I first moved here there was a recycling plant out in Bovoni and one on the weekends in the Lockhart Gardens parking lot that accepted paper, aluminum and bottles. Shortly thereafter, the VIWMA (or whomever has authority over this dept.) ran out of money and the recycling program ended. I understood that recycling has since then been unavailable even if you wanted to recycle and NOT get paid for the effort.

Lately, I've been seeing ads for aluminum can recycling on STX. Yesterday, I saw an ad for a can recycling day that includes both STX and STT. I have tried to call the number listed (STS Recycling) for two days to no avail.

Does anyone know whether we in fact have recyling availble on STT? And, if so, is it just limited to cans or other materials being accepted?

I would really appreciate any helpful information!

THANKS!!!!

Onika: Did you see the VIWMA ad in the Daily News this morning? (11/4/06) It indicates that there is going to be an aluminum can collection contest for the schools. Collection dates- November 6-December 1. For more information: Charmin L. Springer- Environmental Programs Division 340-773-4489. It also gives a number for STS Recycling on St Thomas 775-3670 and EZ Recycling on St Croix 778-0199. There is another VIWMA ad that says, "Yes, you can recycle the can!" with the same name and number, but no details of HOW.

Is there a place to recyle aluminum windows? Or any other materials larger than a can? Any other info on recycling would be appreciated.
