Re: Iso medical office position stx - 10 months ago
I would start at VI Health's website, linked here. I would search the site for private practices that are similar to the ones you have worked at in the past, and then send a short email to each of those practices inquiring about a position. The ones that say they are looking, you send them your resume and cover letter. There may be other relevant links. The search terms I used in Google areby sjointer - General/Relocating
Re: Questions on moving to the islands - 10 months ago
Personally, the advice I give to anyone moving anywhere is to try to have a job lined up BEFORE you relocate. Given your trade, I would expect that you could find a job, although if you're used to working on those giant, transport engines, it maybe a little more difficult. If you can and are willing to work on smaller vehicles, you should be able to find work easily enough. Finding a place tby sjointer - General/Relocating
Re: Small Claims for Plaintiff off island - 10 months ago
Okay, so I was curious and continued reading. The form you download is a fillable PDF, but it looks like you need to print it out and mail it. It also looks like you will need to show up for the court date in person. I only did a precursory look, though. I would suggest digging into the details for yourself with the links that I sent before.by sjointer - General/Relocating

QuoteAlana33 CALL the court to find out. Quoteisl3985 Gee never thought of THAT thanks sooooo much.... Honestly, I'm not certain what's wrong with Alana33's answer. Who else would know the rules better than the court. If you contacted the court and didn't get a response, you should simply call them again. Quotermb2830 Many of the bugs that fly around inside are the type that come out of the old bags of dry food...very little in staples will be ordered now until delivery in late November or Dec, as the snowbirds add to the volume of buyers. Until then, you can watch the volume of products on the shelves get lower and lower, things like canned vegetables, soup, etc. I'm about to relocate. Shoulby sjointer - General/Relocating

Re: Year One - 10 months ago
Okay, so it's been awhile since I posted an update, but here it is. I'll try to make it short. The first issue was that I was told I would be getting a disbursement to assist with relocation expenses. It turns out that, no, it will be a reimbursement once I finally arrive. I was upset about that for a bit, since I was trying to be on STX at the beginning of June. Red tape later and now I wby sjointer - General/Relocating
Re: Year One - 10 months ago
Quotestxem FYI, if you are renting at beresford manor in Frederiksted, there is NO cell reception out there. Okay, that is new information. I was given the impression that I could choose AT&T and get some okay coverage. I will know once I arrive. Thank you for pointing it out.by sjointer - General/Relocating
Chicken/Cock fights? - 11 months ago
So, I did read up on this "DMX" guy, because I don't know him, as I'm not on the island just yet. I came across a secondary article that is the subject of this thread. Facebook secondary article Is cock fighting legal in USVI? Not that I care, but it's mentioned so nonchalantly, like it's a common occurrence.by sjointer - General/Relocating

QuoteScubadoo Let's hope your friend checked out the neighborhood for barking dogs. Mango Melee is the Sunday after July 4th this year. Innovative does have unlimited calling to US for a few dollars more than basic. Market pricing I guess. Or maybe just paying more for off-island bandwidth. He told me he lived there in the past and that it hadn't changed much. I don't think barking dogby sjointer - General/Relocating
Re: Airbnb hotel tax collection starts June 1 - 11 months ago
QuoteScubadoo The question remains, if the legal requirement to file and submit the monthly hotel tax forms and payments still exists and Airbnb starts doing this are the Airbnb hosts that are not doing it still breaking the law? I wasn't really clear before. I think AirBnB does this on behalf of the hosts so the hosts don't need to worry about it. They just need to pay income taxes.by sjointer - General/Relocating

QuoteSTTsailor You good people talk about shooting In self defense. Have any of you actually shot or killed another person? I never have. QuoteLiquidFluoride Have you ever seen a gun shot in public, or are you just afraid of dem jumbies? your fear is completely unfounded and the opposite of reality, it's a political talking point from one particular party. Quoteislandjoan Sjointer, those are great ideas, but they will only work with impressionable youth, who still have time to be saved. QuoteScubadoo Well eating mango with juice all over your face and dripping down your hands is the traditional way to do it I hear. But I prefer to do it the easier way. Re: Airbnb hotel tax collection starts June 1 - 11 months ago
QuoteGator's Mom In the Consortium article, it states the IRB will be given a spreadsheet of what the tax was assessed on. So will this "out" Airbnb operators who don't have business licenses and/or don't claim Airbnb income on their 1040s? QuoteGator's Mom This is the same anywhere you live now - the threat of gun-related violence is nearby and is a fact of life. Except in FL you KNOW people are armed. Maybe not in CA either. It's really tough to own a gun at all in CAby sjointer - General/Relocating

QuoteAlana33 It doesn't cost you anything to use a Realtor to find housing. QuoteSTTsailor The idea of all citizens packing heat is outright crazy. We are not a 19 century society. Apartment Wanted - 11 months ago
I'm relocating to St. Croix in three weeks. I've been looking at a few 1+1 apartments and thought it best to post here. My preference is to live near Frederiksted, and I'm willing to pay $700/month maximum. The best I've found so far is $625 with one month security that is unfurnished and includes broadband access, electricity, and water (his words). I have T-Mobile on the mainland; I'm about to relocate to St. Croix. When I was visiting a few weeks ago, I found that my phone provider flipped between T-Mobile, and Innovative VI. The difference was extreme. When my service was provided by T-Mobile, I had a 4G LTE connection. When it switched to Innovative, my connection dropped to 2G! I used to have Sprint. Quotevicanuck Maybe it's time for vigilante death squads to start patrolling at night. It shouldn't be difficult to lure these scumbag criminals into an ambush. Maybe not vigilante death squads.
