We can't take her with us......... :( - 2 years ago
Work transfer is causing us to leave the island and our family dog cannot come with us. Maggie is a 5 year old Basett Hound. She's really a sweetheart. Maggie is potty trained and great with kids. Her biggest flaw is that she's a lazy girl who loves just being close with family. She barks just to let you know someone is in the driveway or at the door. She's a great watch dog. She has all of her sby Beach3 - USVI Classifieds

Re: STX - Need Trustworthy Pet Caregiver! - 2 years ago
Juanita, Yes ma'am. Thought of that. The situation is unique and those who are interested will be informed of all details which ensures bases are covered. I can board the dog if need be, however the cats would remain uncared for as we cannot take them with us. So this is my best option for all three of our furry children. Perfect job for youth wanting to earn some good money. We are leaving the island for three weeks for our daughter's wedding and son's military graduation in mid September through the beginning of October. We have a dog and two cats that need be fed and watered and a little TLC as well on a daily basis. We live on the east of end of STX close to Ziggy's. Ugh, my cat! - 3 years ago
On STX - Does anyone know where I can get my sliding patio door re-screened? Darn cat has recently taken to climbing it and has put a few tiny holes in it now. As it is a rental I want to be sure to take very good care of everything and replace what is needed. I will also be headed to Kmart to pick up a water gun to deter this behavior any further.by Beach3 - General/Relocating
Re: My son is bored! - 3 years ago
Our 17 and 19 year old daughters lasted 6 months and moved back to states to live with family. My 17 year old wanted a "normal high school" experience rather than homeschooling. Couldn't afford GHCDS for two kids so homeschooling was our option. I have a 12 year old that is experiencing the same feeling of isolation and boredom. I think its harder on younger people to transition toby Beach3 - General/Relocating
Re: Relatively new but gotta ask...... - 3 years ago
We moved into a new house at the end of January and the cistern level was at 7 feet. We were gone one week in February and three weeks in March. We only use water to hand wash dishes, once a day showers and a maximum of four loads of laundry a week ( 2014 ) energy saver washer. We measured at end of February, no water loss as it rained a bit during that month. Lost a foot in March and anothby Beach3 - General/Relocating

Thanks Alana and all! Today, because of the fire on the south side, the air quality was even worse. I did my errands early and hid the rest of the day in the bedroom under the air conditioner. Home schooling in a cool dark comfy king size bed wasn't too bad today. Lol!by Beach3 - General/Relocating
Relatively new but gotta ask...... - 3 years ago
.....so how long does the haze and no rain usually last around here? Live on STX and it is soooo dry. I'm starting to feel like a rasin. Lol. 12 Yr old daughter says dust makes her throat and eyes hurt and itchy. And we have noticed a bit of a challenge in breathing - especially during walks and workouts. Sincerely, Not a fan of Sahara dust!by Beach3 - General/Relocating

Re: Soccer for kids - 3 years ago
Thank you Alana for the link! I submitted an online registration request for my 12 year old daughter last night. Fingers crossed, that we hear back from someone at AYSO soon. I have posted a request for ideas for teens and tweens before. Out of 4 kids who moved with us, our 12 year old is the only one who has stayed behind - so far. We are hoping that soccer or volleyball will pan out soby Beach3 - General/Relocating
Just wanted to follow up with this poster to see if he and his daughter made the move. We have been here since June and I would like to see if his 12 year old has had any luck making friends on the island. We moved here with our 21 year old, 19 year old, 17 year old and 12 year old. All but one left us just before Christmas and went back to Texas The 12 year old has remained with us - for nowby Beach3 - General/Relocating
Sports and activites for Kids: Teens and Tweens - 3 years ago
Good afternoon! Hope everyone's new year is starting off well! We have been silent readers of this very informational forum and we are now hoping to get some suggestions to help our daughter. We have a 12 year old who was very active in soccer back in the states. With teammates and schoolmates came sleep overs and time spent with friends. Unfortunately, she has not had the opportunity to makby Beach3 - Community
