"Did you know that more than half of the garbage in our landfill could be recycled? Please join the VI Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D) in a grassroots effort to move forward to promote recycling on St. Croix.

The first meeting of the St. Croix Recycling Association will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on February 7, 2007 at the V.I. Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. office, housed in the USDA Service Center located upstairs in the Merrill Lynch Building in Gallows Bay.

The purpose of the meeting is to identify community members who are interested in starting a recycling association on St. Croix and to explore potential goals and purpose.

Dee Osinski, Environmental Educator for the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, will present models of recycling associations from towns, cities and states across the nation. These models could act as a guideline to develop our association’s vision, mission and structure.

Let’s start recycling to help protect our environment for the future – Everyone is Welcome!

For more information, please contact Dee Osinski at 340-514-2270 or the VIRC&D office at 340-692-9632 x5."

Great post Islander. Do keep us informed and let us know if Waste Management intends to do the same on STT!
