just wondering...has anyone taken the Saturday AA flight between STX and Charlotte NC? We usually fly through Miami, so wondering how this flight is instead. Thanks for any info

I took it last month. I was going to JAX. Usually go through MIA as well but it was cheaper to go through CLT. And faster, because of a shorter layover between connections than in MIA.
Everything went smoothly however it did mean spending an extra 2 hours sitting in an airplane because we went further north then had to fly south to get to JAX. I would take the flight again.

Very convenient. And CLT has better food options and much more convenient for connections than MIA. No trains or extremely long walks!

I use it every now and then. I prefer the NC airport to the overcrowded Miami airport. The difference in length is almost negligible...

OK, I just booked the flight through Charlotte for next week...3 good opinions works for me. I've never liked Miami, but it has been a long time since I flew into or through Charlotte, and generally it was not on American, thus my hesitation. Hopefully I will be satisfied with my choice as you all are. Thanks for the help.

We flew Charlotte to STX on Sat. in Jan. It was fine, a little longer flight than from MIA. I seem to recall thinking the plane (former USair) was not as nice as the planes from MIA. Probably something to do with the power ports, seats, or entertainment systems, I don't remember. Since they've completed the MIA renovations there are plenty of good restaurants there. With Charlotte being so much smaller it's nice not having to hike between gates and the restaurants are decent too. Was the first time I flew through Charlotte in years since flying American but not that's no longer an issue. In fact will be there again this Sat.

Usually go through MIA but did the CLT flight last month. Don't quote me on it, but I think the CLT flight is only available during high season. No complaints, less walking, equally boring food options, both have decent AA lounges.

The one plus connecting at CLT was the absence of drunken cruisers so I actually got some shut eye on the way back.

Between the 3 week period from December 17th 2016 and January 7th 2017 Delta will be doing 7 days a week STX-ATL. After that back to Wednesday and Saturday.

I've been searching flights for a trip next month to Arkansas for surgery and every AA flight I found makes two or more stops before final fight to Little Rock. I love the Delta fight, here to Atlanta and there to Little Rock, but, it is only offered on Saturdays and since my surgery is on a Friday, it would keep me there an extra week to my already 3 weeks planned and by that time my daughter would probably be ready to kill me if I didn't leave!

Getting west of the Mississippi River is a pain at best to travel from STX these days!
