Adult Parade Disgusting Episode

So, went to the parade for a few hours early and loved it. Left about 3pm. Then received a FB video from the Consortium, with the following caption:

Granpa gets his "wuk" in behind a fine Crucian woman during 2017 Adults Parade activities in Frederiksted. More videos and pics coming up.'

Do not know how to post the video but it is akin to an anal rape. TRY TO LOOK AT IT OR TELL ME HOW I CAN SHARE IT PLEASE. The girl was clearly uncomfortable and the Consortium publishes this abuse as if it were not only normal but something to be applauded? Then they delete all negative comments about their post!! If the first image and the Consortium's celebration of this treatment went viral, trust me, tourism would be negatively affected, as would our island's reputation all over the globe. Truly truly disgusting. So very sorry that this news outlet believes women can be treated in such a fashion.

If this is the case, I'm thrilled you couldn;t post it. It's not something that I would want to see or even posted for others to see.

But this is not ok. The Consortium deleted all negative comments and left the video on their site. One cannot ignore such blatant abuse of anyone. Never been an activist but this is beyond horrible and I cannot shut up. Even my Trumpist husband was appalled.

"Wining" or "wukking up" during certain parades and events is common as janeinstx and speee1dy said and it is a surprise you haven't seen this style of dancing before on island. That is usually how they dance to Soca music.

Search Trinidad Carnival on YouTube.
What you saw on the St. Croix Carnival video is amateur compared to Trinidad videos.
Tourists flock to Trinidad for their carnival.

I don't think the woman was uncomfortable, I can't read her mind tho, but looks like it was just time for her to move along in the parade.

And for you to compare it to anal rape is just plain ignorant because you don't know that style of dance.

Whatever style it is, it's extremely vulgar and could be construed as unlawful sexual contact, if, undesired by the woman.

Carnival has become a spectacle of this type of disgusting behavior and children follow by example.

Oh Lawd...The generations after Elvis' gyrating hips & similar artists have been declining since then also.

I was a bit surprised by it when I first saw it years ago, but it's pretty common place at these types of events.
We're not in Kansas anymore !

i did find the video vulgar. i have seen some videos on facebook from other islands where kids are doing this style of "dance" . i dont agree with it. kids that should not even know what they are doing exactly

i dont consider that "dancing" at all.

Part of the local culture thingy. Simulated doggie style humping. This has kinda filtered in to mainland mainstream too. I am surprised you all shocked.

I wonder when you go play bingo at the Frenchtown Community Center and the number 69 is called and all the men and women start whooping, whistling, and carrying on. There’s young children and teens listening to that. I wonder what they think. Hmmm.....:S

I hate to say this but don't dare a white woman do that! I was at the village on Friday and the band was ROCKIN and I was dancing my face off and did some bumping on my man (not down to the ground kind lol) and a handful of WI ladies sucked their teeth at me and shook their heads. One even said something, I couldn't hear her but she clearly disapproved. Embrace the culture but don't participate? I find it extremely hypocritical and its not just this instance that its happened to me. I'm not a "local"l unless I embrace but do and get those kinda looks? Cant win either way apparently. Luckily for me I don't care much for labels so I call myself a local and/or islander regardless of who's definition it fits.

I was really disappointed to not see more people dancing and enjoying on Friday. If that was my band, I wouldn't come back - how totally awkward with only one random dude at the front of the stage dancing. Some hips swaying amongst the crowd but that was like some of the best music I've heard on island. No clue who it was lol the guy singing was trying to get people involved too but just blank stares. The STT village is always INSANE and everyones bumpin and getting down. Maybe thats how they do it on STX? Totally different from what I've experienced in STT so not sure.

On a positive note I did snap some shots: http://www.photosvi.com/St-Croix-Carnival-2017/

The costumes were GREAT this year!! The lionfish was SO AWESOME! Wish I got more of him but the parade seemed a bit messed up with timing and he rushed by me and didn't turn around so only got one. I gotta get in a troupe next year. Such beautiful ladies, every one of them!

AandA, i experience the same thing if I stop and talk to someone on the side of the road. Drivers go ballistic, hypocritical indeed.

Ladies troupe costumes cost usually on the low end $200 and that doesn't include your extras, which can add another $100 more or less.

This is one of the reasons why social behavior is going downhill in the Virgin Islands. The actions by the man and the woman in this video are disgusting. People are just sitting back and excepting bad behavior. When you see something wrong, its time to speak up. I would not call this anal rape but I would call it sexual exhibition. If you want to conduct such actions do it in the privacy of your bedroom not in the middle of the street of America's Paradise. Acceptance of such behavior is a promotion of such behavior.

Every year someone points out this disgusting "dance". Every year the pointer gets their asses handed to them. One year someone suggested that the reason I found it obscene was that I was a right assed old white woman. I had no arguement.

Well I am a very left wing Black man and I couldn't care less about name calling. When I see bad or unacceptable behaviour I point it out. Whether it's from trump or some misguided locals. Ignoring bad behavior is the same as supporting it. There is no way any parent out there who cares about their children could accept this behavior. We all know right from wrong but often times people are intimidated by others. I am a proud Black man and I will not be intimidated or lower my standards to accept such behavior.
