I need to replace a few large slider windows that got chewed up by Maria and I am considering impact windows.

I've bought Marvin windows in the past, but they are ridiculously expensive for the size openings I need. Researching CGI and PGT impact windows, but can't find any recent reviews online.

Has anyone any experience owning/installing either brand? (I will install myself).

Any other impact window option I should consider? (I have friends who bought from prowindowspr.com, but I'm not sold on the look for my property).

Grateful for any info.

PGT makes good windows. Lost a few during Irma, many were fine. Installation should be straightforward as long as your measurements are accurate. I've never had CGI windows so can't speak to that brand.

PGT are what my contractor recommended as well. I said I wanted Hurricane Rated and he suggested using them right away.

Haven't taken delivery on them yet, so can't give a 100% satisfaction post yet.

Talk to Castle Glass across from the Propane dealers after Reliable Rental. They can measure for exact replacements with glass options.

Thx.

Yep I've dealt with Castle Glass before. They are crazy busy right now. Figure it'll be quicker to ship them in.

My houses had PGT on STX....zero problems with Maria.
I second using Castle Glass.

Just want to mention a couoke if things. Proper installation of the doors and windows are key if you want them to perform as intended as well as any warranty they may have. You also want to be sure that you have then inspected by a pro after a major event. Even if they appear to be damage free, it doesn't mean that they are. Check with the dealer as well to get their recommendations about replacing after major events. It can be a case of looking intact but have been weakened and not able to withstand another big hit.

If you are looking to sell your home, then buyers always look for windows as it is the first appearance of your home. In the last month, I hired a high rise window cleaning Folsom CA team in order to make my windows spick and span. As we all know that clean and well maintained, windows help us to increase the value of our home.
