Just received my 2010 return. If you haven't already adjusted your deductions, do it, try to zero out or owe them a few dollars instead of giving them a load. My 2010 refund was $700, $600 for the work credit thing, my check was $886 with interest.

Anything that travels via the grapevine or the coconut telegraph has to be taken with a block of salt ...

Back in the late 80's, waited 3 yrs for an income tax refund.
Don't expect any large interest on it, either.
I might add, we have all the same problems now as back then so why are people surprised at the time it takes?
The fact that they are able to issue some refunds, at all, is encouraging.
Good Luck!

I wasn't joking. A co-worker told me they heard about this on 103.5 this morning. As I personally didn't hear it on the radio I can't confirm.

Actually I try to owe as much as possible at the end of the year without triggering an underpayment penalty. Why? Because the IRB unlike the IRS doesn't charge you to pay your taxes with a credit card. So I get cash back or mile points, I've funded free trips to the states by doing this. Free for me, but since the government pays the credit card transaction fee of 3.5%, my trips were actually paid for by my fellow virgin island taxpayers, So Thanks!

Sounds like you are on the bottom of their list Marty.
Goodness - 07 and 08! >with all the interest you can probably slpruge at macDonalds!
Thought they were getting better than they were in the 80's.
But, hey, at least you finally got some $$$ back so hope they will keep sending you those checks.

Good Luck

you are not alone. For anyone thinking of moving off island in a year or two, slight "underpayment" is the better choice.

Ah hello??? It aint working the system. Why over pay and wait and wait and wait for refund? Why not pay with credit card? Big deal. Actually it's called making the system work for you (for a change).

If you want to be enraged, what about all those cash based business that under report?

Good idea Blu. My oldest daughter had a bunch of rental properties and she payed all the mortagages with her credit card and got points which she used to buy airline tickets to come and visit me on STX. 🙂
