Is there an area in the USVI in need of a primary care physician?

I would love a good primary care physician. I have been begging our stateside PCP to move here. He treats our entire family from my mom to my grandchild.

Yes, PCPs are needed. And here is my wish list of specialists (for St Thomas, but St Croix I think could use these as well): pulmonologist, rheumatologist, neurosurgeon, dermatologist, psychiatrist, palliative care specialist, geriatrician, radiation oncologist.

and Braslow was affordable if you did not have insurance, added to which he had good credentials. We haven't found a replacement.

For what it's worth, Palliative Care/Pain Management and Geriatrics are areas I lean toward. Unfortunately, at least for now, a move to USVI got the spousal veto. I let her know that if she dies first that the USVI is where to haunt me. I showed the kids a few pictures and I think a straight up vote would lean toward the move, but it's hard to overturn a veto. I'll have to vacation there and let the area win her over.

your specialties are what I enjoy also. I was on STX and still miss it everyday,I wish I had'nt left, but family issues prevailed, the onlly way I will make it back there is if I can get a job in my field.

I think this is something we need very badly on STX....I called to get an appointement a few weeks ago when I had a stomach flu and Dr. Bishop's office told me that there were no appointments for over a month and a half! They have walk-in but I don't have time for that...fortunately the flu went away eventually.

Sean, Dr. Prassards walk in is open from 7-2. I brought my wife last week and she was in and out in @ hour. $80.00. He is at Beston Hill.
I send my employees there rather than Juan Luis.

Never had a wait that short when I've seen Prassard. Even for the nurses. I like all of them and think they do their job but they are so slow. Its always been 2 or 3 hours without an appointment. With an appointment its more like an hour to hour and a half from the time I enter to about when I leave. Only go without an appointment if I feel horrible, and don't know what it is, like dengue. Otherwise with colds and flus I rather wait it out then wait in any doctors waiting room for that long.

I hope you will consider St Thomas, as we really could use some palliative care expertise. And get the spouse on the board, we'll convince her!! :@)

Just curious... If your personal physician wanted you or a family member to receive a diagnostic ultrasound (thyroid, gallbladder, prostate, ovaries, etc), which would you prefer:
A. Go to Gov. Juan Luis Medical Center?
B. Go to the on-island Imaging Center?
C. Go to Puerto Rico or stateside?
D. Have the ultrasound done on-island at your personal physicians office?
