Next time you see an Arabic woman weaing a hijab or a burka, stop her and ask her why she wears it. You may be surprised at her answer. A lot of them consider it a great freedom...freedom from the stares of men, for example.

That's certainly what Arab men tell themselves. Surely you're aware that for many Arab women, sharia law forbids speaking out against the burqua (though the Qur'an doesn't even mention burquas), and that public flogging is a common penalty for a first offense, and that penalties escalate for subsequent offenses. Under those conditions even I might promote wearing burquas.

What Arab men fail to recognize is that the burqua is incompatible with life in First World societies, because they remove an entire gender of people from sight -- with all that implies. We live in a culture that works on a currency of communication, verbal and otherwise. People dressed like the Amish, or Hasidim, or Catholic clergy, or other "religious" dress may be separate and live with different mores, but this modified dress still leaves open the possibility of communication with the wearer, whereas the burqa rather obviates that possibility. As long as Arab men are able to use sharia law to subjugate Arab women, one can't trust anything an Arab woman says regarding matters about which she is not free to express opinions without potentially life-threatening repercussions.

The things that you are saying about Arab women speaking freely is much like atheists speaking freely. Though in recent times they might not be beaten for claiming that god is a delusion and that religion is nothing more than a massive bamboozle. They are never the less shunned. Even though the US constitution says that there will be no religious test for holding an elected office this did not stop 17 states from including a statement in their state constitutions which prevented atheists from holding elected offices.

Recent polls have shown that atheist are the minority least likely to be elected to public office. People trust atheists even less that Scientologists and Mormons. There is a statement in the Boy Scout charter which prevents atheists from being Boy Scouts. You can be a Boy Scout as long as you are wiling to state that you believe in a supernatural deity but not if you are undecided or have open doubts. And don't even think about being a gay atheist scout.

How can the statistics on the number of atheists in America be trusted when there is still such open discrimination against us. Many atheist simply keep there mouths shut for fear of retribution from the delusional religious around us.

You can't trust what someone says unless they are in an environment where they can speak their mind without fear of retribution. And while that fear is very well founded in the middle east, it still exists in the US as well.

Part VI - 'Muslim Women's Rights are a Western Ploy to Destroy Islam'
One major point of conflict between Islam and the West discussed by Saudi Imams is the status of women, which is perceived as a matter of life and death for Muslim society. The Saudi preachers see the West's preoccupation with the status of women in Islamic countries as an attempt to undermine and topple Islamic society.

In a sermon at the Al-Huweish mosque in Al-Taif, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Nimr explained, "The enemies of Islam… know that the woman is a double-edged sword, and that she can be transformed into the most dangerous weapon of destruction [of Islamic nations]. Thus, the woman has suffered from most of the conspiracies to shatter the Islamic nation - because the woman has a group of traits allowing her to either build or destroy the nation…"

"The enemies of Islam have decided to distance the Muslims from their religion. Therefore, they have made the woman the most important weapon in this destruction. Ostensibly, they are showing her mercy and defending her rights. Many among the Muslim women have been misled by this, because of their ignorance about their religion, which sees the woman as the man's partner and as possessing rights and obligations appropriate to her nature and character..."

"Permitting women to leave the home, so that they rub up against men in the marketplaces and talk with people other than their chaperones - with some even exposing parts of their bodies prohibited from exposure - are forbidden acts, a disgrace, and lead to destruction. The first crime perpetrated by the Israelites was letting their women loose when they were adorned, so that they would stir up Fitna [inner strife]. For this, Allah punished them with the plague."[39]

The whole article is pretty scary. Show the controversy that religion causes.

Sorry about the cut and paste, but......

By Henry Makow Ph.D.

On my wall, I have a picture of a Muslim woman shrouded in a burka.
Beside it is a picture of an American beauty contestant, wearing nothing but a bikini.

One woman is totally hidden from the public; the other is totally exposed. These two extremes say a great deal about the clash of so-called "civilizations."

The role of woman is at the heart of any culture. Apart from stealing Arab oil, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are about stripping Muslims of their religion and culture, exchanging the burka for a bikini.

I am not an expert on the condition of Muslim women and I love feminine beauty too much to advocate the burka here. But I am defending some of the values that the burka represents for me.

For me, the burka represents a woman's consecration to her husband and family. Only they see her.It affirms the privacy, exclusivity and importance of the domestic sphere.

The Muslim woman's focus is her home, the "nest" where her children are born and reared. She is the "home" maker, the taproot that sustains the spiritual life of the family, nurturing and training her children, providing refuge and support to her husband.

In contrast, the bikinied American beauty queen struts practically naked in front of millions on TV. A feminist, she belongs to herself. In practice, paradoxically, she is public property. She belongs to no one and everyone. She shops her body to the highest bidder. She is auctioning herself all of the time.

In America, the cultural measure of a woman's value is her sex appeal. (As this asset depreciates quickly, she is neurotically obsessed with appearance and plagued by weight problems.)

As an adolescent, her role model is Britney Spears, a singer whose act approximates a strip tease. From Britney, she learns that she will be loved only if she gives sex. Thus, she learns to "hook up" furtively rather than to demand patient courtship, love and marriage. As a result, dozens of males know her before her husband does. She loses her innocence, which is a part of her charm. She becomes hardened and calculating. Unable to love, she is unfit to receive her husband's seed.

The feminine personality is founded on the emotional relationship between mother and baby. It is based on nurturing and self-sacrifice. Masculine nature is founded on the relationship between hunter and prey. It is based on aggression and reason.

Feminism deceives women to believe femininity has resulted in "oppression" and they should adopt male behavior instead. The result: a confused and aggressive woman with a large chip on her shoulder, unfit to become a wife or mother.

This is the goal of the NWO social engineers: undermine sexual identity and destroy the family, create social and personal dysfunction, and reduce population. In the "brave new world," women are not supposed to be mothers and progenitors of the race. They are meant to be neutered, autonomous sex objects.

Liberating women is often given as an excuse for the war in Afghanistan. Liberating them to what? To Britney Spears? To low-rise "see-my-thong" pants? To the mutual masturbation that passes for sexuality in America? If they really cared about women, maybe they'd end the war.

Parenthood is the pinnacle of human development. It is the stage when we finally graduate from self-indulgence and become God's surrogates: creating and nurturing new life. The New World Order does not want us to reach this level of maturity. Pornography is the substitute for marriage. We are to remain single: stunted, sex-starved and self-obsessed.

We are not meant to have a permanent "private" life. We are meant to remain lonely and isolated, in a state of perpetual courtship, dependent on consumer products for our identity.

This is especially destructive for woman. Her sexual attraction is a function of her fertility. As fertility declines, so does her sex appeal. If a woman devotes her prime years to becoming "independent," she is not likely to find a permanent mate.

Her long-term personal fulfillment and happiness lies in making marriage and family her first priority.

Feminism is another cruel New World Order hoax that has debauched American women and despoiled Western civilization. It has ruined millions of lives and represents a lethal threat to Islam.

I am not advocating the burka but rather some of the values that it represents, specifically a woman's consecration to her future husband and family, and the modesty and dignity this entails.

The burka and the bikini represent two extremes. The answer lies somewhere in the middle.

Deal.

Great!!!

Now let's go fly some pilotless drones over there, and blow up those women while they attend weddings. They were probably Taliban anyway.

If you really care about Arab women, work to end the pointless wars in the Middle East. You are killing them with your concern.

LOL !!!

Your brainwashing is complete. What do you do, watch FOX and CNN all day long, while listening to Rush Limbaugh on talk radio??

Maybe you should sign up for the Af-Pak war, you seem pretty gung-ho 🙂

Just remember Rudyard Kipling:

"When you're wounded on Afghanistan's plains,
and the women come out to cut up your remains,
just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
and go to your god like a soldier."

i find it amusing that you are defending the people that were the first to take slaves out of africa, read your history, and now those same people are destroying africa with their toxic religion, if you've read any of my posts at all you'd realize that i think ALL organized religion is evil and needs to be eliminated as well as individual countries and individual cultures, yours is perhaps the worst of the bunch because it allows for no tolerance at all,you are in very deep denial if you think islam means "freedom"

Burqua-clad women are not free to speak out against sharia law, so I would not be at all surprised by what I'd hear.

...so you'd prefer to see Africa destroyed by unmanned drones instead?

Why the sudden concern for slaves? America was built on the backs of slaves, and you are here enjoying the benefits of their labors.

Africa is being destroyed by greedy corporations who want to exploit its resources.

Organized greed is far worse than organized religion. I am not defending anyone. What I defend is peoples' right to live their lives as they see fit in their own countries. You have no right to "defend womens' rights" in Afghanistan by killing the aforementioned women and their families. The current war in Afghanistan has nothing to do with womens' rights, and everything to do with unbridled corporate greed.

You most certainly DO subscribe to an organized religion, and it is called capitalism. It will destroy Africa and the rest of this planet far more efficiently than any other organized religion.

So we have Sharia Law in the VI ?? That's news to me.

You are probably afraid that you will hear the burqa-clad woman say that she wears it by choice because she respects her husband and wants to demonstrate that respect by not allowing strange men to view her body or its outlines.

Underneath the burqa, she is probably dressed in Prada. But only her husband knows that 🙂

Lucky guy.

If the muslim world was matriarchal, who might be wearing the burqa?

If the US was matriarchal, who might be selling sex?

Perhaps neither side is "correct"...

I don't know whether anyone in the USVI adheres to sharia law, but it is unlikely as I have not seen any burqua clad women in the USVI. (I've seen women in the USVI wearing hijab, but hajib leaves open the possibility of communication with the wearer.) I am not "afraid" that burqa-clad women would say that they wear burqua by "choice"; I would expect them to say that, and I would feel profound sadness that they had to "choose" between wearing a burqua and being beaten -- or worse.

The Importance of Blasphemy
There are many historical myths with which we like to comfort ourselves. One myth that appeals to Americans is that ever since the founding of our country we have been strong supporters of individual rights and fundamental freedoms. After all, shortly after we adopted the Constitution we also adopted the Bill of Rights, which prohibits government interference with speech and government establishment of religion.

But in 1801 the ink was not even dry on the Bill of Rights when Congress adopted a law for the District of Columbia that prohibited blasphemy. The first offense was punished by the boring of the tongue of the offender, the second offense by branding of the forehead, and the third offense by death. Blasphemy, by the way, encompassed not only any denial of God, but any denial of Jesus as "the Son of God" or the denial of "the Godhead of any of the three persons" of the Trinity. Remember this the next time you watch some uplifting documentary about the Founders.
