Please let me know your thoughts on AT&T vs SPRINT for cell service on STT.

I have Verizon now, but contract is up and willing to switch.

Any and all thoughts appreciated, thanks!

Good evening! I was doing research into this today, myself. We're due for a PMV shortly and our two Verizon phones will not work there---or cost us big $$ so we're going to do one of the pre-paid options. Right now....Tracfone is looking nice with the triple minutes deals, inexpensive phones and good coverage thru USVI and Puerto Rico. Virgin Mobile, AT&T Go Phones are also not looking bad.

As to long-term.....a current resident of USVI may be a better resource- but do weigh the costs of a contract commitment with the options of a no-contract carrier--- as I'm seeing once I'm free from Verizon, may not be worth anything to get locked back into a contract again!

Wishing you happy hunting!

The cheap phones don't have as strong an antenna as the higher end phones so the service isn't the same on a cheapie phone.

I sometimes buy a Tracphone during hurricane season as a back up, but I love my unlimited data plan. I'm going to help a friend pick out a phone this week, so may report back with more details.

I remember coming for my PMV with a Verizon phone and we thought, well, it's roaming, but how bad could that really be? Got a bill with $1,350 in roaming charges on it for the 5 days we were on island. Guess letting my son watch fireman sam videos on my phone while roaming was not a great idea 😉 Not that you were going to keep your Verizon phones, but just reminded me of the story from last year.

Surprisingly, when I broke my phone and had to go to the ATT store in Crown Bay for a new one I braced myself for an Innovative-type experience. I was out the door 12 minutes from when I came in with a perfectly working and synched new phone. Very pleasantly surprised!

I just picked up a galaxy S5.... pretty nice piece of hardware, very strong antenna also... but it's AT&T so it's good to begin with.

I just visited last week. Go with Sprint. The have their LTE network rolled out there. We don't even have that here in Denver. Plus the data plan I have here covers 100% there. No roaming, unlimited etc.

Hey @meatman great to know! Is it true that Virgin Mobile uses Sprint towers and would work just as well? Anybody down there using Virgin Mobile?

I think you'll find that Sprint is more "iffy" and more susceptible to your physical location than ATT.

Can you transfer your sprint number to AT&T?

My phone shows that AT&T has activated LTE on STT.

AT&T has had LTE for something like 2 years.
