Let me summarize every response you will get:

1. NO - it's not worth it.

2. YES - it's a great idea.

Now get a coin and flip it.

Ditto. Before you start thinking about which car (if any) to bring, pay a visit here, do a PMV and see if these are the islands which will suit you!

If you bring any car make sure it can be repaired on island and not exotic - and if you accrue some of the commonly replaceable parts there, before you ship it, for something like an older Mercedes it would useful and prudent.

Unless you absolutely 'love' the merc and can maintain it yourself, i'd probably flog it off before you relocate.

STT or STX?
If STT I wouldn't bring the expedition. In fact I probably wouldn't bring it to STX either, unless it was a low mileage mint condition beast. On STT you want good power for the hills and maneuverability. Overly large vehicles could be regretted. Not so much of a problem on STX.

There is a reason Jeeps and small SUV's are popular here.

Keep in mind that you'll likely be hauling your own trash around, so small/midsize trucks are great.

Ok jestelles....enough with the blatant advertising. Spend a few bucks and put a banner ad up on the site if you think this is a good fishing hole.

Blue Ocean Transport does advertise on this site in the Relocating pull-down section. A slew of posts also against TOS but not from an advertiser were removed this morning from the visitor's forum ...

So are they [ jestelles] allowed to post the website and phone in their posts aka advertising ?
It seems to be against the rules as stated:

Messages of a commercial nature whether direct or indirect are not allowed. This includes but is not limited to business owners/representatives using their business name as their author name, posting advertorial type comments, including contact information such as web address, email and telephone number in signatures and in messages when this information was not specifically requested, soliciting business from board participants directly on the message board
Does being an advertiser on the dropdown menu exempt all advertisers?

The company pays for advertising on this site. The poster either owns or works for the company and the TOS apply as they do to every other forum subscriber. There are no exemptions for paid advertisers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's reported the slew of posts but seems there's no rush to remove them ...

Would importing my older Mercedes sedan all wheel drive be a resonable choice? We have an old Mexican veteran 97 Ford Expedition, not as fun but rock solid.Anyone?

I brought my vehicles down because I know what I want & couldn't find them locally.

I suggest what ever you DO get to have the best suspension you're comfortable paying for.

I've driven a lot of vehicles down here,, you benefit GREATLY from off-road suspension down here, between the pot holes and speed bumps your going to need a bit of vertical travel...

My truck makes the road feel nice and smooth and I'm frankly shocked when ever I have to drive anything else (though it makes a lot more sense why people drive all over the place to dodge potholes now).

But I have fox suspension and 14" of travel, so I'm cheating a bit.
