I was told by someone who was instrumental in the project that the bypass would open, conveniently, just prior to the elections. This to bolster the chances of re-election of certain otherwise useless "Senators."

Very much like the sign that went up last election announcing a new police sub-station at the Cotton Vallley dump on STX. Needless to say, the sign is still there, but no hint of a police sub-station. Disgusting how they try to manipulate gullible voters. Next, there'll be a fish fry announcement coming soon.

They had the west end access closed and were paving over the weekend. Maybe some kind of progress :S

Honestly looking forward to it opening as I drive from Gallows Bay to the airport a few days a week..

Somebody (not anyone from VI Paving) did not order the light posts in time.
Federal regulations require the light posts to be in place before opening.
Hopefully it will open in December.

I would think that 30+ years would be enough
time to order lightposts!

And you have to love the fact that we are also getting new guard rails on the divided highway. So, when you hit one of those potholes the size of a honda accord, you don't go flying into the living room of the house 100 feet away. Makes sense to put up guard rails instead of fixing the damn pot holes we have.

Maybe we could have a mock opening for the bachelor. We could drive a few mock cars over the mock bypass on the mock island of St Croix.

LOL.......believe me Speedy, they will ALL show up to take the credit...........with a lot of hot air to spew. This is why the island is so warm this time of year...................too much hot air coming out of the mouths of the politicians. More bullshit than a cattle farm.

Just rode the bypass, along a nice string of installed street lights. Can't say whether they're powered yet, but they are up. For all who haven't been yet, it's worth walking or bike riding the bypass before the low-riders finally have a place to drag race without potholes. The lookout above Gallows Bay is sweet.

I think this bypass will be great for town. Less traffic, should give people in town more options and be able to clean it up a lot. It's already getting nicer, with new stores being opened, bars and restaurants getting opened, building fronts painted.

Agree 100%
no more Big Trucks rumbling by, causing my building to shake, putting black soot on the walls/windows
the bypass should be a great thing for town
