I believe CVS now ships via "regular" mail not Priority like they did in the past so it takes approx 3-6 weeks. I am changing most of my ordering to drugstore.com now - $9.00 flat rate to upgrade to Priority.

Pia, thanks for the info. What is going on? We SHOULD have the right to shop and ship from anywhere........it's horrible. 🙁

How can anyone possibly force us to shop local by restricting shipping? Something else must be going on. If this is happening we have a lot more to be worried about than shipping from Walmart.

Since Walmart is no longer shipping, I tried CVS.com last night. I tried ordering things that I had ordered before. Same at LuckyGirl56 - not able to ship to STX. I'm getting very frustrated and running out of options.

Yup, Tried Dollar general last night, and was unable to place my order because of "Carrier restrictions " Kinda make you wonder what the larger issue is!

I think it is time to bombard Donna Christensen with inquiries. Who else can get the information regarding "shipping restrictions? Is it the postal service or these retailers that are limiting our access? We really need some straight answers and not from postal clerks.

I emailed The Source and asked them to investigate. You can go on their site, go to "contact" (tiny at the bottom of the page) and fill out an online form. They have the regular "Answer Desk" submission/articles. I think this would be a good one. Maybe if all of you send a request too they will try to get to the bottom of it.

I think it would be political suicide for a politician to take on any issues dealing with buying from off island retailers, IMO. I hear that the VI post offices are looking to scale down branches, and already they're starting to limit package pickups and mailings to cut costs. Maybe the USPS has revised their shipping rates for large retailers. I've often wondered how they could ship free or at rates substantially less than published rates.

"Carrier Restrictions" have always been in place, and were ratcheted up by Homeland Security. Some restrictions relate to 'overseas' vs domestic. (St Croix still is an island, right? ;))

I've ordered things from the mainland which arrived on STX packed like they were only meant to be carried by my grandma across the street. A scrawny piece of tape and no padding.

Your CVS order of 409*, adult diapers, orange slices and four jars of favorite butter pickles flying 800 miles to be thrown around the warehouse in Puerto Rico, then shoved into a prop plane to Stx, has got to be a shipper's nightmare.

*Household cleaners are classified as hazardous substances.

As a shipper of product myself, I gotta say that shipping to some places is a pain in the ass. Scale that up to a giant company obsessed with efficiency -and the extra cost of shipping pickles and paper towels to an island probably doesn't make them want to battle the restrictions.

Sounds like a business opportunity for someone however.

I placed an order with cvs.com shipping to STT on 10/26 and it still says In Process. I'm a bit nervous now after reading this thread, but it could be Sandy messing things up.

I placed an order with CVS yesterday. It says it is processing.
CVS.com sends me emails all the time with specials. Yesterday was a 3 pound tub of Oxi clean for $5.49. I usually pay $12.99 for it here.
I bought 3 of them and some other small things. Shipping was 76 cents since I was over 10 pounds.
Hopefully it will arrive.

cvs.com order placed on 10/26, and it STILL says In Process. I just called them and they state that it shipped via USPS on 10/29. I tracked it and it was processed in Jacksonville, FL yesterday, so hopefully it shows up early to mid next week. *whew* I was nervous there for a bit! Still 3 days is too long to process, but I'm not gonna complain!!!
