Not hyperbole, but fact. The comedic flair will not mask the truth this time, Tart.
The First Lady took a junket to Africa on VI Lottery money. Fact.
She was accompanied by an official from the Source. Fact.

You are of course referring to Shelley Moorhead's assertion which was rebutted in The Source:

I met one of the students who was raising money to go. She hadn't seen the movie Hotel Rwanda so I gave her a copy.

I went to an event the group sponsored after their return hoping to see the students' reactions to their experience in Rwanda. To my disappointment, I got the impression that the intent was to sell photographs taken by a "professional" photographer who accompanied the group. I lost all respect for the First Lady and the group after that event.

From what I remember, much of that piece in the Source is factual. It would be very helpful if the facts could be separated from the opinions. Since the author is the Source Staff, it isn't clear whose opinion it is.

Seems their reactions were heard first hand by Rotary East members:

Your reaction was unfortunate.

Griffith: Unlicensed Former Physician Named In Patient Deaths Brought On At JFL To “Improve Customer Service”

http://viconsortium.com/featured/griffith/

Nice. I especially liked this quote: "We could have done better due diligence in bringing her on here."

The current "leadership" at JFL continue to employ such unique methods. Can't blame him I guess with her being a former model. Heck, I guess I would have probably given her a consulting job - Not at a hospital mind you, but if I owned a gentleman's club, well different story.

Is that supposed to be spelt with one 'p' or two? Is Candy the blond or brunette?

It is amazing how little vetting there is in the vi for some people for in positions of responsibility and various "pie in the sky" projects. This is just one example.

Another would be charlise summers, front person for the summer's end coral bay marina project that has at least one name change, used to work as an interior designer, just filed for bankruptcy and who along with her partners, never built a marina before nor have any previous experience in managing one. Much less the likes and size of one better suited to Miami beach. I especially like the fact that Roy pemberton and Bryon Morrissette (who sits on the czm board ) can represent the developers while being on the czm board and has leased land the developers want, on top of having their fingers on another failed development project in coral bay.

This project gets passed by 2 people on the czm board while getting the objections of at least 3,000 people that wrote them.

There is a consistent pattern of obvious governmental wiful stupidity and ignorance or collusion and corruption. Which is worse?

I just heard that Donna c. Is responsible for getting federal grant money for the developers of the coral bay marina.

In The Avis headline last week announcing the exciting new JFL program for students interested in the medical field, they referred to them as "Candy Strippers."

I kid you not.

Now the CFO is gone quicker than the cloud of smoke after a reggae concert. Anyone taking bets he was the one who recommended/hired the un-credentialed ex-model?

Please. We'll never move ahead if they keep losing execs. We have too little time to comply with CMS requirements. Now they have to replace the CFO who may have been responsible for financials not meeting GAAP.

Chucky will scream that we have plenty of qualified Virgin Islanders to fill the position.

Greetings. Wow, is all I can say after working my way thru this thread. My friend and I have both been mildly recruited by JFL. I'm an RN and my friend is a physician, board certified in his area of expertise.

A few minutes of research shed light on some of the hospital's troubles, but frankly, there are mainland hospitals that are in dire straights. My thinking was that this opportunity was a low-risk chance to continue my passion in a part of the country that I love to visit. I realize this is an internet forum, but the more I read, the more pause comes into my head. It is nice to hear the good comments re: the staff, however.

Be very careful when considering a job at JFL Hospital. They make promises to prospective stateside new hires of signing bonuses and such.

Don't believe it.

Definitely in writing. Physicians regularly negotiate agreements putting the term and financial arrangements in ink, however, RN's do not command the same pre-employment attention, but I will seek it. My main worry was future viability of the newly acquired funds to attract nurses. If those funds are not replaced then what?

Has the hospital missed payroll ever? I thought I read that previously and that would be a deal breaker frankly.

Or get it in writing! Good luck to you!
