Currently I have Innovative. The signal is so poor and service has been out for days that I would like to switch to dish.

Does Dish work and is it worth the money?

I switched a couple years ago and have been very pleased.
Occasionally, in a heavy downpour you may lose the signal but then you cannot always watch something you've recorded, previously.
Plus, you're not trekking to Innovative to get a replacement receiver every few months.

I have had Dish for several years both here and in the states.

Recently Dish has been reducing the number of HD channels we receive here on STX.

We still pay the same price for the package even though the HD channels are not in that package.

If I could find a service to compete with Dish I would change, but sadly we are at their mercy here in the Caribbean.

That being said there are few outages or interruptions and tech service in readily available.

I have been a DISH customer for several years. I have been extremely satisfied with the service and reliability. My local technician, Paradise Satellite, gives tremendous customer service. Although I also have a Roku streaming box which is great for some things, for everyday TV programming, DISH can't be beat.

We have had Dish for 5-6 years....no complaints whatsoever...when you have an issue just call the 800 number and there is always someone to help you!Every now and then in a downpour you may have a signal loss but picture comes back in a few minutes!

VERY HAPPY with DISH!!

We have had Dish for over 10 years and love it. Call Alan at Paradise Satellite 718-2488; he or his wife Karen will take excellent care of you.

If you sign up through Paradise Satellite you are dealing with a local Dish representative that has been doing Dish on STX for over 14 years. 340-718-2488... The 800# is just that. You'll be talking to a rep in the states reading off a computer screen.

Glad you are happy Lily!!!!

WE HAVE HAD DISH FOR 1 YEAR. imo it is better than innovative was at that time ( before evo )

with innovative we would loose stations, call, they would be fixed for less than a day and back out again. they just could not seem to fix the problem. even at work stations just go out for no apparent reason.

the only time we loose dish is during heavy down pours. like someone else said, just watch something you have on your dvr.

price wise i think they are both about the same once the special prices are gone. but i am glad to have dish as an option

i would choose dish over innovative any day of the week

We switched to Dish several years ago, mostly because of Innovative's stone-age customer service, and are happy we did. Innovative may have improved their deplorable service since then, but we see no reason to risk switching back.

I was probably one of the first to get DISH here donkey's years ago and was extremely happy for many years. However, a VERY prolonged and excruciatingly frustrating experience with customer service over ever-increasing monthly bills for which there seemed no explanation finally led me to Innovative. I'd avoided Innovative cable for years because of all the problems others had encountered but the EVO system and price deserved a look so off I went to see what they could do for me.

It's been I think two years now since I made the switch and I couldn't be happier. NO problem at all and the total cost of the bundle package (I already had landline and internet with them) is less than my DISH bill alone. No ugly dish attached to the building, no instant outages in a downpour, excellent service all around - and I have all the programming I had with DISH.

I wish the people who keep harping on about the "old" Innovative system would belt up - the EVO system is excellent.

Except when the battery starts to fail and one must go to the Innovative office to get a replacement.
Glad it's working well for you OT.

The new boxes/modems (whatever they're called) don't have the problem that the first ones had.

I've been very happy with Dish Network and Paradise Satellite for all of my 10 years here. Responses to any occasional technical problems are always excellent.

More good news! Paradise Satellite just called and moved by installation day to this Friday, a holiday weekend, couldn't be happier.

Innovative is a joke ! No other explanation is needed. There's a reason they laid off so many employees a few months ago and no longer accept payments at their office. Good bye Innovative, won't miss you.

Hello Dish and the new technology!

I'll pile on, very satisfied Dish customer here. The advantages over Innovative are:
1) picture quality - Dish looks better on an HD Big Screen TV than Innovative
2) Hopper DVR - can record 3 channels at once, huge storage capacity, great controls
3) Channels - greater selection, more in HD
4) On Demand - online streaming catalog is huge, including free, pay per view, and Netflix
5) Customer Service - Alan at Paradise vs. the excruciating experiences at Innovative....no contest.

I'm sure, Beeski, that your opinion of Innovative has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that your company is in direct comnpetition with them! 😀

Come on OT, be fair.
Out of all the posts on this topic, yours, thus far, is the only one that supports Innovative. Everyone else prefers DISHTV.

I've been back and forth between the 2 since my move to this location as the house had DISH when I purchased it so I continued the service but that was years ago when the receivers were huge and you only had about 40 hours of programming you could record.

I didn't like taking it up and down off the roof and having to store in my laundry room in the event of an incoming storm and then putting back up and having to get it aligned so I switched to Innovative until they drove me insane with having to take in the cable boxes for replacement and the long lines and waiting times which could be an hour or more, just to get a replacement, so I switched back to DISH.

Actually, Alan at Paradise set me up and it was no fuss, no muss as my neighbour, Jeff was doing the installation here on STT for them.
I'm quite pleased.

What's unfair about my offering my honest opinion? Is my opinion "unfair" because I'm the only one on this thread so far who's happy with Innovative's service? If so then "fairness" must have a new meaning I'm unaware of. If you really think my opinion was unfair I can only imagine how you'd describe it if I'd done a total lambast on DISH in the same vein as many posters have chosen to attack Innovative.

I'm glad you are happy tart. For basic service it is probably OK. Not all Innovative customers are as happy as you. They call us every day to complain about the Evil box (EVO), they also complain about the several weeks they have been out of service with little or no response from them.

If you like new technology, and a better overall experience, Innovative is not the answer.

Bottom line.

It's hard for a company with +/- 20,000 subscribers to compete with a company that has over 14,000,000 subscribers.

Bundle shmundle...

No, you are being a troll.
The topic was DishTV.
I have had both, Dish is much better than Innovative for the reasons I listed above.
I am a loyal and enthusiastic DishTV customer. It makes me feel connected to the world, watching my news, sports, movies, shows, etc., just like I was in the States.

OT, the fact is you are one of the very few Innovative fan girls on this message board, I guess it makes you feel special. BBVI has thousands....let me repeat, thousands of former Innovative customers who have switched to BBVI. Are we perfect? No. Are we working on getting better? Yes. Do we have some exciting news....soon come? 😉

Good grief, not all customers are happy with Dish, Broadband VI or any other tech/internet/TV service either. I'm not damning any provider, simply giving my personal opinion which is apparently (for some obscure reason) upsetting to a few and raising defensive hackles. The OP asked a question and I guess unfortunately I chose to respond.

If a party wants to beat on a competitor at least have the good grace to insert a disclaimer and stop tooting your own horn while disparaging the competition. My "disclaimer" is that I have absolutely no stake, either financial or personal in either Innovative or any other provider. Just a simple consumer with apparently the temerity to opine.

PS: Beeski, seriously, now I'm a troll? You're decidedly off your rocker and very rude being so.
