Dry Cleaners

After checking the forum, Google, and the online phone book I came up with the name of ONE place that does dry cleaning on STX. (the other places seem to be on STT or closed). It's the one in United Shopping Plaza. The cost is about 5 times to what I'm accustomed to paying. ($14 for a two piece suit on STX vs. $3 in Texas) . Since I travel a couple of weeks a month to the mainland, that turns out to be a pricey proposition.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows a good alternative short of hauling dirty laundry back to the mainland.

A new place just opened in the old James Luz office on Northside Rd (75). It's in the building that shares parking with Business World. I just had :

1 dress (very simple, sleeveless shift)
2 shirts (one 3/4 sleeve, straight lines, the other a short sleeve pullover cotton sweater)
1 slacks (Plain lined, side zipper)

$26.00! I'm so glad I don't have a real dress job anymore.

Yipes! That's a lot of $$$. Like every thing else on the island, I'll learn to adapt. Didn't you just go to Washington state? That's got to be a long flight.

Oregon...and I leave tomorrow morning! Yeah! Granddaughter, daughter and IKEA! It doesn't get much better.

And yes, it takes all day, and into the night to get there.

What few items I have that require dry cleaning I clean at home with Dryel. Once a year or so I might take the items to the cleaners, but the Dryel works fairly well. The kit also comes with a spot remover.

I'll be using Dryel too - I dropped off one blouse at Tropical Cleaners last Monday. It was supposed to be ready on Thursday, but I got busy, and just got around to stopping by today. She couldn't find my blouse and said that it must not be done yet. I know yesterday was a holiday, but seriously, it's just one blouse! Oh well, luckily I can dress pretty casual at my job so I won't need dry cleaning too often.
