Hi everyone,

My fiancee has just sprouted an absess on the inner part of his lower gumline. We called a friend who said he should go the the dentist ASAP. We've called around to a few dentists on STX and haven't been able to make contact with anyone who can help him because it's so close to the holiday. (One place said that they will be closed until January 11th!) Does anyone have any suggestions of where to call or go? I also should mention that he doesn't have insurance.

As always, thanks for any suggestions and/or help!!
Kate

If you can't find a dentist, go to the emergency room and have them give you prescription for Amoxicillin 500MG cap. Rinse mouth out with a saline solution every half hour.(tu)

If it is just a gum problem you can rinse your mouth with Hydrogen Peroxide Solution, it works as an Antiseptic, Rinse once every hour, don't swallow, spite it out.;)

As a follow up to what Lizard said.............I had an oral surgeon tell me to put a moist teabag over the spot for as long as possible, somehow it draws the stuff out.............it did work for me along with the peroxide in between. I was always one to do anything possible to avoid the dentist and still have my teeth. Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone who made a suggestion. He was able to drain it himself (which happened accidentally) so we are waiting to see what happens from here before heading to the dentist. Until then hydrogen peroxide is his new best friend 🙂
Thanks again and if anyone has more advice or info please feel free to keep adding here!
