We have guest in town and need to know about decent affordable seafood restaurants.... we don't eat out much and have driven up to some of our favorites only to find out that they are closed or gone out of business.....

So.... what is your favorite restaurant to get seafood?

Depends on what you want as to seafood. Fresh local lobster for example is limited to a few restaurants on STX in my opinion.

American or Continental menu restaurants that serve decent seafood entres are in my opinion-
Duggans Reef --East end accross from Reef Golf Club. (Lobster is always on their menu and so is fresh fish like Mahi-Mahi)
Rowdy Joes (North Shore in LaVallee) (usually have a special for fresh Tuna or Mahi-Mahi) based on availability of purchasing it)
Eats @ Cane Bay (again depends on whether they were able to buy fresh local tuna or mahi-mahi)
Rumrunners -on boardwalk
Angry Nates - on boardwalk.
Breezes - condo row in Princess - they usually have both Lobster & Fish
Villa Morales -SW end of island past Estate Whim -- usually have red snapper
South Shore Cafe -east end -- will serve fresh tuna & fish based on availability.
Dashi - behind Caravelle Hotel C'STD - has decent sushi
Bogies (Cane Bay Reef Club) - has fresh lobster on Sunday's and Wednesday's as dinner specials for $21.99

Fine dining places like Savant, Baachus & Kendricks -- don't know but would guess they have fresh local fish most of the time but these places are quite pricey..

There are some "local" restaurants that serve fish that were caught in fish traps. Bradys & Harveys in C'STD are only open for breakfast & lunch, closing at 3:00-3:30. Another local place for fish is Junies (east of Hovensa) and I'm pretty sure they are open for dinner.

My favorite place for Lobster is gone, closed 10/31/09 - The Lobster Reef. I guess Either Bogies or Duggans Reef would be my next choice for Lobster.
My favorite place for conch is Harveys - (lunch)
My favorite place for tuna & mahi-mahi is Rowdy Joes

I'm sure there are other restaurants that serve good affordable "seafood" that I haven't listed.

I had the fresh tuna at Rowdy Joe's last week, and it was fantastic. Actually, everything I've had there has been really good. I had a couple of friends in town for the holidays, and they found it while they were out on their own. They had lunch there, took me back for dinner a couple of days later, and we went again for dessert the following night! In addition to great food, the service is great, too.

Sunday's -Rowdy Joes has sushi on menu with 4-5 different options to choose from. I think their sushi is very good. Last night they had fresh Grouper as the dinner special. Some nights usually on weekends they also have cerveci which I've had & it's "out of this world good."

I also like their NY Strip steak & Prime Rib specials when they have them.

I've had some good Mahi at Waves at Cane Bay. They also had pick your own live lobster last month when I was there. Watching someone pick a lobster was worth the price of admission. The waiter hauled the bag of lobsters from the tidal pool and dump them out on the rocks. After the selection was made the rest of the "bugs" were re-bagged and back to the pool with them.
