After guiding the QE IV smoothly in the Gallows Bay dock Wednesday evening, Chief Captain Michael Harper smiled and said, “We got all our parts, got everything back together, all is good.

Gallows Bay is a mess when the ferry departs. To add to the horrible roads, people just stop in the middle of the road to unload or fill up the parking lots at Gallows Bay Marine and block the driveways to unload. I had to jump the curb in my Jeep to get out of the lot because people parked in the middle of the lot and got out of their cars.

Its a stretch to call that a "road" over by No Bones and the The Gallows Bay port.

Its more like a creek bed.

Carib should just admit that she hates that road. She never has anything nice to say about that road and always has to be negative about it......

Those aren't roads in Gallows bay, just the area between buildings where the cement trucks washed out after delivering their loads. After a good rain it's no different than driving through a creek bed.

Hopefully, with the increased traffic down there, they'll redesign and improve things. Since Mosler paid for the Ferry, the least the local government could do is kick in for a new parking lot.

I own a vacation condo in Schooner Bay, and the terrible road is my only access. The problem is compounded by all the trucks picking up shipments from the cargo port. Mapp is well aware of the issue because he often dines at No Bones there.

There are serious drainage issues with rain water running from up the hill. I have seen the road graded several times and it was much better until the next heavy rain.

The good news is that the building of a new passenger terminal and road system has been approved and contracts awarded. There will be new passanger parking lots. The cargo ships will be rerouted to another port. Last time I was there I noticed survey crews and also the taking of soil samples.

There were news articles about this project. I'm sure someone here will post links.

Actually I'm surprised the road isn't better since Mapp is on it all the time on his way to No Bones.

I've heard that soil samples and some preliminary site work has been undertaken. But, if its Federal money that will pay for it, it will be years before its complete. Think bypass.
