Saw the old post, and have some questions.

Does anybody know what the prices are? I checked the websites and couldn't find price quotes. Probably need to call, but if anyone knows basic information on the flight schools, and if you've been there, what were the pros and cons? Thank you very much!

I'm not sure what the prices are these days, but depending on how determined you are to get your pilot's license, it's easier -- and possibly, on balance, cheaper -- to go to an intensive school in Florida for a few weeks and do your training and check rides there.

You want to look for a FAA Part 141 school. Part 141 schools have a curriculum which has been approved by the FAA and require a minimum of 35 hours of instruction to obtain a pilot certificate.

Part 61 schools require a minimum of 40 hours and are usually more informal schools located at FBOs.

I'm not sure where you were looking, but I am planning on calling/meeting with the guy here : http://www.airventuresinparadise.com/flightinstruct.htm

They have a private pilot package- from the website

A Private Pilot Training Package is available for $6,600.
This package is designed to give you everything you need to qualify for the Private Pilot practical exam.
This includes a total of 60 hrs flying time, dual and solo as required, all books, study material and ground school required to pass the written exam. The FAA physical exam and any fees charged by a Designated Examiner are not included. Call, write or e-mail for full details.

I don't believe Captain Al is still doing lessons....I used Bohlke for my flight training for my Pilots License and multi-engine.
I'm working on my IFR.

Darn! What a shame.

My neighbor suggested him, evidently he is out of the loop!
