I am grateful TS Bertha brought us some much needed rain for our plants and cisterns, blew by quickly and caused very little damage to our islands.

Let's not forget that while we all "hate" the entity known as WAPA, the people that work for WAPA must do so under all types of servere and adverse conditions. They are the ones out there doing so. They deserve our thanks. One shouldn't fault them for not doing their job and then fault them again for doing their job. Personally, I would have been thrilled that someone called to check to see if my power had been restored if I lost it.

Enjoy your Sunday and the nice weather and, hopefully, your restored power.

Well our power is out this morning in the sunshine. So glad to have a generator.

Apparently one of the couple of outages on STT was on the East end where there was a pole problem so likely they're fixing that.

Don't feel bad Crucians about your outages, our power in in STT has gone out for quite a few hours today in STT. Several hours here this morning to this afternoon and now out again probably until 11PM or so according to what the rep at WAPA said when I called a little while ago. Mind you, today was a lovely day, no wind or rain, a bit hazy but sunny and bright and calm.

I love my generator!
BBVI Internet has been on all thru the outages as has my ATT cell and DISH TV Service.
Gotta have a generator if you live here and don't wish to be without power.

Looks like more of the same today here in STT with WAPA rotating power!

WAPA Rotating Power After Generators Fail
By Source staff — August 4, 2014
The V.I. Water and Power Authority implemented a rotating power schedule Sunday when two generating units failed. The rotating power schedule will continue based on the need to provide service to all customers.

According to WAPA's announcement, generating units 14 and 18 at the Randolph Harley Power Plant failed Sunday, Repair crews assessing the units determined extensive repairs were warranted.

Sunday's rotations were implemented on a 2 to 3-hour schedule. Feeder loads can peak or dip during the course of the day, the release noted, making it extremely difficult to predict an advance schedule, as was the case on Sunday.

"However, the rotation schedule was monitored throughout Sunday, to determine the best available resources for Monday," the release said.

WAPA said rotations will be conducted "in a manner to ensure service is retained by as many residential and commercial customers as possible."

The tentative feeder rotation schedule, subject to change, is:

6 a.m. to 8 a.m. – 9D, 7E, 9A, 10A
8 a.m. to 10 a.m. – 7D, 6A, 9C, 7B
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – 8A, RR (Ridge Road,) 8B, 10B

WAPA urged customers with generators to use them during the rotation schedule.

Additional information can be obtained by sending email to communications@viwapa.vi.

They went off here at my location a bit early @5AM.
Nice rain tho.

Good to hear. Now we won't feel so alone!
Of course you probably don't pay as much as we do here, do you?

Anyone here on the inside and covertly want to tell us what's happening and why the two feeders are down for two days? Coconut telegraph says they do this and purposely break stuff to get FIMA funds? I mean that can't be true......

My two hours of no power is almost up lol. Crazy.

It's not two feeders that are down but two generators which apparently developed problems just at the same time that the main "workhorse" is offline undergoing its preparation to convert to propane. If you believed half the rubbish you hear over the coconut telegraph you wouldn't live here! A tiny grain of truth grows to a giant mushroom of hyperbolic negativity in just a couple of hours ...

It would have been sensible to have thoroughly checked the three generators when the main workhorse was taken offline - and even brought in a loaner backup. There was ample time to do a good job and prepare for unforeseeable circumstances.

But that requires foresight ...
