Good Afternoon,

I am in need of an auto mechanic on St Croix that does quality work at reasonable prices. I have a Ford Escape that needs some repair.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Jas

We used Marvelous Marvin and were always pleased with his work and service. Tell him Ric and Linda sent you.

Where is Marvelous Marvin located?

On Midland Road. I don't see his listing in viphonebook.com, but if you drive the road, you'll see his sign.

MPH near 5 points. In the same building as Dr. Hess, the vet.
Efficient and good prices.

Try Caribbean Auto Mart. They'll fix it. LOL. They're one of the reasons there's a shortage of good auto techs on the islands. No one is going to invest thousands of dollars to ship their tools and personal items here to be treated like a piece of..... You get the idea. Word spreads fast. Especially on this message board.

I third Marvelous Marvin. I bought Linda J's car when she left island.
It quit on my friend who is keeping it for me. I called a friend who is in the business. Three weeks later - - nothing:X
So I got Marvelous's number from Ric (Linda J's other half) and called them. They had it picked up the same day, and fixed a few days later8-)
Fair pricing. I am going to have them do some other work, replace the timing belt and water pump. Their pricing is as good as what I would pay here in AZ.

LOL! People come and go, but good cars (and mechanics) just go on and on.

Yeah. I'm sure. That's why for years I've seen threads like this one. There's so many great mechanics, you have to try to find one here. Get a grip.

I work for CAM for 6 months last summer as a mechanic. I moved back state side due to family problems.
There are some decent mechanics there. I didnt mind working there ...its not state side but
there are good people there. I made alot of friends there that I will never forget.

A whole six months. Did they pay to ship your tools here or did they screw with you at the last minute? Six months is not enough time for them to evaluate you or you them.

They tried to charge a friend of mine $85.00 for one front wiper blade for a 2006 Grand Caravan! Theres nothing special about it. You can get one at any parts store for about $20.00 bucks and it installs in less than five minutes. Yeah. Great outfit.

Ive been doing this for 30 years and I can tell you 6 months is plenty of time. My tools need not concern you....no they didnt screw me. They treated me pretty well. I dont buy the story on the blade either...Im calling BS on that story. ....karma is king.

CAM tried to charge our friend over $3000 for an overheating van. Said they had to replace the intake and a bunch of other stuff associated.
Went straight down to get it and they had not touched it. It was still in the back 40. Took it to MPH and they found a loose fan wire connection. 5 minutes later it was cooling. She still drives this van years later without a problem. Yeah, great outfit.(td)

Really? I guess SkysTheLimit is lying too. I've also been doing this for 30 years. They're scumbags. Can't believe your loyalty after only 6 months. There's been countless stories on here about their poor business practices trying to rip people off and screwing their help. Google the law suits that were filed against them.

6 Months was foreplay. They were getting ready to pleasure you like they do to everyone else. Since you've been doing this so long you should know they "feed" you until they're ready to screw you.

"My tools need not concern you.." That's a yes if I"ve ever heard one.

You're probably just like them. That's why you can't tell the difference.
You're defending slime. How's that for Karma is King.:D

Not defending CAM as much as my friends that work there and the good people that are there. Just the negative band wagon on this board that people love to jump on sucks. Find something new to complain about now ..maybe the bypass, Hovenza closing or a certain place to eat....maybe the Chicken Shack expanding. Im sure you will find something...if not you can fall back on WAPA. Peace out and have a great day

I stopped buying GM brand vehicles on STX because of the poor and ineffectual service at CAM. In my opinon the were one of the worst I have ever experienced (Western Auto at Sunny Isle was clearly worse- the left oil out of newer vehicles during oil changes, punctured peoples radiators by not watching how far the lifted vehicles etc..)

I am a highly experienced engineer with many years of hands on time on everything from refrigeration systems to generators to diesel engines and more complicated stuff...I often did not have the time to repair my own vehicles, so "brought them back to the dealership"- couldn't fix a damn thing- not cruise control, not window latches- not even one single fouled injector. They wanted $680 for aroutine 6 cylinder tue up- that I later accomplished in under one hour with NAPA parts.

We use MPH for the majority of our car stuff when out of warranty- and have NEVER been disappointed throughout the years.....

I don't have anything else to complain about. Especially things like Chicken Shack expanding. Did they encroach on a bird sanctuary or something? Doe's any one know what the heck he's talking about?
What I do have a problem with is businesses like C.A.M. that screws with as many people as they can because they're too far out of reach for state siders to initiate any kind of a law suit. Other wise, they'd be sued a lot more often for the damages they cause to unsuspecting potential employees. Then they have the nerve to complain they can't find good help. That's why they can't fix anything. They screw the good help and hire the morons and idiots that are stupid enough to fall for their crap.

Oh. Yeah. I don't like the idiots that defend them.
