Hazards everwhere

When we tell our friends that we bought a condo in St Croix, their first comment is usually, " What about hurricaines?".
Today, July 22nd, in the Phoenix area, the heat has claimed 20 deaths and still counting.
So every area has it's problems. Sure when we have heat waves such as this, it does not destroy the houses or country side, but from what I've read, most hurricaines don't usually claim this many lives in a small area like St Croix.

And we are such a small speck in the middle of such a huge ocean, the odds of being in the direct path of a hurricane are rather small. Now, if you had bought a condo in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisianna, Texas, North Carolina orSouth Carolina, then I would worry more about hurricanes than I do living on STT. California = earthquakes, Kansas and surrounding States = Tornadoes, Arizona = heat, Alaska = cold...gee, seems like the VI is the best bet!

At least one can prepare to an extent for a hurricane...there is no preparation for the earthquakes..and they feel weird too! I like my ground to be steady ;0)
