No doubt, the longer the old facility sits, the less is worth. It is an immence peice of property and a real shame its been shuttered for this long already.
STX needs the tax revenue and the jobs, lets do this!

Maybe Mapp's people are releasing this as a distraction from his villa controversy to get us all talking about something else.

If that were true, why would the senator's be talking it up too? They don't care what public relations problems Mapp might be having.

Monarch just posted on another page that they are coming down next week. The only goal can be, as before, to upset the apple cart since they are not involved in this rumored agreement. I have to wonder who is backing their constant disruption of the process.

It has to be someone local with something to gain.

Mapp must be selling the refinery to Guam hence the extended trip.

FYI as far as I know the Guam trip is a command performance. The Dept of Interior has had money available for many years for territories to investigate/prepare for/mitigate the potential effects of climate change. They've let these $millions go unspent, (just as they have with education funding and much other money, pfffffffffft!) and the governors have been called together to learn how to spend it and learn of the consequences of not spending it. Happens to be in Guam.

SMDH.

They know how to spend the money.
They just don't know how to be accountable for it, wherein lies the problems.

The same 'newspaper' that has run over $50,000 in ad's for Monarch?

The same one that has banned me (twice) from posting anything to show how Monarch
is a front for someone trying to disrupt the sale of the facility?

Wait until next week. You'll see more ads and stories about Monarch again. Guaranteed.

Besides, James should ask his colleagues about a deal (if there is one). Sanes and Vialet are the source of the information for that story, not Hess, Not Hovensa and not PDVSA.

You see than banning users as acceptable?
Why should I have to create a new account on a regular basis? You may approve of their censorship. I don't.

I've seen the page. Believe it or not, what they were doing was banning everyone on my network, not just me. We were all writing similar articles questioning the accuracy and pointing out how their articles were slanted towards their advertisers. We found out that we could still post if we hid our IP addresses or used different computers or smart phones.

Does that fall under the umbrella of "Freedom of the press"? Smells more like stinky gutter journalism (with "journalism" used very loosely).

They can do whatever they want and we as users cannot do anything about it.
Unless the plagiarize our work or slander our reputation. But as long as they
print slanted or inaccurate stories, I'll continue to point out their errors.

May I ask how do you know for sure that Shell was here?
First hand or second hand/rumor?

Personally, I didn't meet any of them. My question is whether they are interested in a refinery or simply a terminal?

I love how HOVIC quietly slapped the GVI with yet another tax claim lawsuit, this one the biggest yet for $1.5 Billion says The Avis.

By the time this is over, Mapp and the 31st legislature will be wishing their predecessors had done the smart thing and agreed to the first deal offered by the ABR team. But the GVI and its legislature rarely do the smart thing and this will cost them big time.

Another brilliant move by Hess. Checkmate.

It costs all of us.
Sorry but I'm not rooting for a Hess win on this one.

The GVI shouldn't have kicked the hornets nest but certain blowhard senators love to grandstand and started this fight.

Personally, I wouldn't necessarily want the territory to be driven into bankruptcy or some similar fate that might negatively affect my own situation.

But what I think ultimately is going to happen is that Hess will eventually agree to drop the lawsuits if the GVI drops all current and future economic and environmental damage claims against Hess/HOVIC/PDVSA and future owners of the refinery.

Hess now has huge leverage and has the GVI is over a barrel leaving ABR with a fresh start.
