Very fed up with all the trash in my neighborhood. I actually saw a car throw a can out the door while driving..probably one of my neighbors which I can verify tomorrow.

So how does one report a litterer? - st thomas

Who are you going to report them to? Our dysfunctional police dept? Killers go free here. Good luck.

Maybe Waste Management and other agencies could post ads in the paper posting photos and other info of litterers? They need Boards of Shame to out offenders.

I said "HA!" because we had the same problem in my old neighborhood with one particular set of neighbors having their trash blow all over including on the roadsides and they were always throwing cans, etc. over the wall onto the road. Contacted the STT Administrator, Public Works as well as Waste Management with no agency having a "can do attitude," willing to deal with the problem or offer solutions on who to contact to deal with the issue. Seriously wonder what the heck we pay taxes for except for our Government and Legislature to squander, mismanage, and tief. Good luck and let us now if you can get results. Maybe try the Anti-litter dept. if you can find it?

Has anybody in the USVI ever received a citation for littering?

One of the most effective solutions that I've seen (and done lots of) is to pick up other people's litter.

It gets real old picking someone else's trash on a daily basis and why should we have to?

... to save it all up for a month, and then dump it into the front seat of their car, or onto their front porch, of course! It won't make any friends, but it certainly gets the point across.

Because they'll keep doing it, and we want a beautiful VI.

I lived down stairs from a smoker at one time who was too lazy to use a ashtray. Instead he ficked his butts out the window onto my steps. After nicely asking a couple of times to stop, I finally collected a few weeks worth and dumped it on his steps for the landlord to see. I kept it up until the landlord threatened to throw him out for smoking in a non smoking apartment. Problem solved.8-)

Here in Arkansas I litter - clean my car out actually - every time I drive down the stretch of highway that has been adopted (Adopt a highway program) by the KKK. Yeah, they did. Just wanted to share 😛

Nice to see Klan members picking up trash, before they go to jail for something hillbilly.

Don't know why I haven't been getting updates that people were posting on this.

Thanks for the info. I will see if one of those departments can help me.

Same person just threw a beer bottle on the road smashing it - at 10 am in the morning. I'm not sure if I should clean it up or if having other neighbors driving over broken glass may motivate them to do something.

I live in condo row on STX and the other morning as I was leaving for work there was a beer can thrown in the entranceway to my complex.
I stopped to pick it up, but thought "let's see if any of the employees of the complex will stop as they should be arrive within 30 minuets for work.
When I returned home at noon I did notice that every employee, except one had driven around the beer can
That one employee ran the can over

Perhaps they waited to see if any residents would pick it up.
Be the change you want to see.

Sometimes Rotor, I just have to agree.
Paved roads with lines would be SO great!

Rotor the picture is awesome.

I am all for harsh punishments for this. I think a lot of this has to do with ignorance and stupidity. All I can do is teach my kids that when walking by trash is to pick it up and move on.
