Hey everyone!

I've posted on this board a few times, and read it at least a few times a week. Everyone here is very helpful, and it is much appreciated.

I moved down here a couple of months ago. I've been busy going back and forth to the states & been busy settling in and getting everything together.

So, now I'm here (for good!) and I'm finding myself a little lonely. I've never had a problem meeting people before, but it seems to be a challenge for me here. I suppose it is kind of lame to post on here, but I'm to that point.

Anyway- I'm looking for a person or persons to explore all the opportunities available on STX. Snorkeling, live music, events, etc. I would really love to work on my SCUBA certification. I haven't gone yet, but would love to!

A little about me: I'm 25, college educated, and moved down here to be with my boyfriend. He is, however, very involved with his work, and not so adventurous or social. Before I moved down here I spent a year volunteering as a youth development coordinator with AmeriCorps (its like the Peace Corps, only in the U.S.) I'm willing to try almost everything once or twice. I've climbed the highest mountain in New Mexico by myself. Traveling is one of my passions. I'm pretty easy going, and I love going to 1844 & drinking delicious beers.

So, if you'd like to hang out, grab a beer, go snorkeling, listen to some music, sit on the beach, hang out at Kmart, wander around downtown C'sted, or whatever. Let me know. I know there is so much going on around here, and I want to be a part of it!

Would love to but I'm sure your boyfriend and my wife would object.:@):@)

Seriously though try a trivia night at either the Palms on Mondays or
Chenay Bay on Tuesdays.
I have met many good friends there.
Show up and if you see a small group ask if you can join them.
Once you become a cert. diver you can join one of two clubs.

You could come out and play ultimate frisbee on monday and thursday at 430 at UVI. Good group of people, teach the game for newbies.

For diving certification, I recommend stopping in at SCUBA on Queen's Cross Street, red awning near Boardwalk.

Lots of STXers hang out on Facebook. Just find some venues or artists you like and "friend" people who share similar likes and interests.

Contact the Caribbean Community Theater. They always need volunteers when running a show. Right now, Cabaret is playing for a couple more weekends. I was on St. Croix for a while before my husband could join me here and one of the first things I did was show up at the theater. Met a lot of "friendly acquaintances" and a hand full of really good friends.

Volunteers get to see the show for free, too!:-)

And Hammerhead (only decent real rock band on island) at the Sugar Mill tonight. It's going to be very very loud between Brew Pub and the Mill! Should be a really fun Jump Up!
