...because I think this post is about me!

Hey everyone!

I find this board to be a wealth of information. Usually any question I have I can find the answer somewhere in the archives! Y'all are very helpful.

I was just wondering if anyone could let me know a place to buy makeup on STX. (Specifically, foundation & powder.)

Obviously there is Kmart, but my skin is prissy & sensitive, therefore it hates Maybelline, Cover Girl, etc.
I know the Bucaneer Spa sells Jane Iredale cosmetics.

But is there anywhere else?

AA misplaced my bags- which had all my Bare Minerals, etc in it. I don't know yet if/when I'll be getting it back. I'm planning on replacing them next time I go off island, but until then I was hoping to find the basics here.

Thanks everyone!

I'd go to Violette's Boutique on Strand Street in Christiansted--they sell Clinique etc.

Good luck!

I second violettes. And it's duty free so cheaper than the states!

You can order Bare Minerals on line from drugstore.com/beauty.com if Violette's does not carry them

Thanks guys (or should I say, gals!)

I knew there was a place I saw Clinique downtown C'sted. I just couldn't remember where it was. I may have had one too many rum drinks before going shopping last time! 🙂 (Oh Jump Up!)

And thanks Longtime. I was very sad that Sephora won't ship down here. I'll try that, or I may just have to finagle my stateside friends to send me some down ASAP.

Although, the great thing about living on the islands- is that I don't wear makeup (or do my hair) that often. So everything lasts me a much longer time!

Nordstroms will ship and they sell Bare Minerals (obviously 🙂 ) and for all other "beauty" needs I use www.dermstore.com - in a word fabulous - free shipping and if you start a "favorites" page automatic 10% off.

Thanks Pia- I will look into that!

Noah- my sea-grass facial & sand body exfoliation is going well.

Now all I need is a couple starfish to attach to my pores & clean them out!

😎

If you can survive a few days without your usual stuff, try to do so because your bag is likely to turn up. Every time AA has lost my bag, it has shown up within 2-3 days. Fingers crossed for you!

There are also MaryKay and Avon reps on island, if you use their products.

@roadrunner - It has been 6 days (or a week, not sure) since I came back on island. Supposedly, my bag is somewhere in London- but there is no tracking information. etc. I'm hopeful, but not too hopeful.

@DixieChick - You're right- it is going to be very expensive to replace. I had all my brushes, eyeshadows, liners & stuff. And all my other beauty stuff/jewlery. I'm not too happy, fingers crossed it will show up!

Thanks everyone!

It may wind up in Scottsboro, AL. Anyone ever been there, to the unclaimed luggage outlet? I've heard of this place for years. Apparently ALL lost luggage eventually winds up there. I've never been, and on a recent road trip we had planned to go, but we were in the area on Sunday, and they were closed. I googled it, and it's HUGH!!!, divided into departments (just like Wal-Mart), and it must be more than just airline luggage because they had large items too, so maybe lost freight or freight that couldn't be delivered for whatever reason.

Seems a little greedy or grubby, though, taking advantage of other peoples' misfortune. I do still want to see it one day. We were actually interested in the luggage itself, not the contents.

I don't think they do it this way anymore, but years ago they would sell an unopened suitcase (kind of like grab bag), and your got whatever you got. There were stories of people finding large amounts of cash and jewelery, expensive cameras, etc. Of course, there were the ones that got a bag full of dirty laundry, too.

@amethyst-- what airline did you fly? Keep calling them---if you checked your bag, it should have a tracking number of some kind. AA has a place on their website that you can enter your bag claim number and track it. Also, you are entitled to compensation if the bag doesn't turn up within a certain time frame. If you are a frequent flier of any sort, they might also give you extra miles and $$ for your bag to placate you!!

I was curious, so I looked it up. Here is the store map. Hover over the map to see the various department names. You can also follow the guided tour: http://www.unclaimedbaggage.com/tourthestore_map.html

We just had someone staying with us for two weeks and his bag was missing for the first week. Then we found out it had been at the STX airport for 3 days and no one called him to say it was here. I would recommend a stop at the airport to look for yourself if it's sitting in the unclaimed luggage room. Our friend had done that but 1 day too soon in order find his bag.

divinggirl is right could be sitting at the airport here.
so many people fly at xmas luggage seems to get misplaced easier.

they should compensate you after so many days.

i know the expense of replacing all your bare e. with brushes etc. i would be upset also.
good luck!!!
