Installing missiles on the rear of my vehicle

For the second time in less than a year, a taxi van coming the other direction was way over the double yellow line and nailed my passenger side mirror, sending broken glass all over the right-side passengers in my car. One of the times wearing glasses was the only thing keeping my mother in-law from getting a piece of glass in her eye.

I've fcking had it. The really scary part is that in both cases, we were 6 inches from a head-on collision. If I hadn't been so far toward the shoulder in the first place it certainly would have happened. Both times it happened at a place (STT) where doing a U-turn and chasing them down was not practical, but it is bullsh*t! What can be done to stop this?

I've never anywhere seen such callous and dangerous disregard for a centerline (on blind switchback roads with no shoulders no less!) than on St. Thomas. If I can find a way to install rear missiles on my vehicle I can at least take out a tire to allow time for me to U-turn and call the cops. It's not just the smashed mirrors and broken glass flying at my passengers' faces, it's that it's so close to a horrid head-on collision with a 10 passenger van.

I've had that happen with a taxi van on the Magens Bay road.
No traffic, just the 2 of us, except he's in the middle of the the road heading right for me. I pull over as far as possible, missing slamming into the guard rail by a millimeter. I'm stopped, heart pounding and the asshole drives merrily on. Wish I could have gotten his plate number but it happened too fast. There's a reason I have said:
"I wish I drove a tank with a turret gun!"

Why aren't you guys whipping around, calling the cops and reporting them to taxi association? May not but easy but worth it.

I've had one person not Safari side swipe me and I called cops on her as she sped off. If it was a taxi driver you bet I'd chase them down. I agree it's out of hand and u drive tourists around almost daily.

If I could have whipped around I certainly would have, but with blind corners and blind hills, and a stream of vehicles behind me and coming the other way behind the taxi van it was just not possible.

I have begun an aggressive honking campaign where when one is coming at me way over the line I lay on my horn until they get back in the hopes that they will do it less in the future because of concern for their passenger's opinions of their driving.

It's quite a dichotomy - in general I find STT drivers to be some of the most polite around, stopping to let people out, friendly double-tooting of 'go ahead' and 'thank you', but then on the other side there is this ridiculous issue of vehicles who insist on dangerously driving into oncoming traffic.

There is a center line on roads here?

I wonder what it would cost to ship a tank or at least an armored personnel carrier, it might be worth it.

i had a chicken commit suicide by flying into my drivers side mirror. and i have had another person cross the line into my lane and hit me and knock the mirror off.

frustrating for sure

order new parts from rockauto-much cheaper than getting them here. i hope it does not happen again.

Get a dash camera. They're about the size of a radar detector and use an SD card to record MP4 video. Some of them record audio and display Google maps, show your speed and have G sensors that detect an impact. It can even get you out of a moving violation if the cop lies about what happened.
Now when some idiot swerves into your lane you can speak the plate number and the camera does the rest

Here's the link for the one I have. It's worth it's weight in gold. https://www.roadhawk.co.uk/

Should I be wary about this type of driving on STX?

just always be aware of other drivers. it seems down here if something is on their side of the road, it is their right to infringe on yours whether you are there or not

also look out for people walking in the road, they likely will not get out of the way. joggers jogging on the wrong side of the road and bicyclists ( it is their right to be in the road and they dont have to ) not moving out of the way for the vehicles. it just makes you wonder how much certain people value their property and lives by playing chicken every day with vehicles that could kill them

Be aware and don't drive distracted. Our roads aren't in the best condition and many of our drivers are idiots and not paying attention to how they're driving when they blast thru Stop signs on your side of the road while yakking on a cell phone, swerving to avoid potholes, speeding down narrow roads while in the middle of the road, etc.
I've seen worse in PR and Costa Rica, however.

Yes. While STX roads are generally flatter and straighter than STT roads, we still have some winding, hilly areas and/or overgrown brush, with people occupying the center line on blind spots. However, STX taxis tend to drive slowly and safely. It's other drivers who usually create the hazards.

+1 on the dash cam
+1 on the aggressive honking campaign

There is one intersection going from Drake's Seat to Hull Bay, where you can make a turn to go up to Mafolie Church, that I have learned over the course of the years to always honk at since I've had so many nears misses when drivers completely disregard the Stop sign there and blast thru like a bat out of hell.

Sounds like driving in New York or in certain parts of Boston. Although, I have seen horrible driving out here in So. Cal too. I remember one time driving up to L.A. to get a flight out of LAX we missed our flight b/c some idiot driver either stopped their car, or it broke down, in the middle of the 5 land freeway without pulling over to the side. It was raining and the idiot was out of her car walking laps around it. She backed up traffic for miles!

This! That intersection wears my horn out just like the stretch of road between Drake's Seat and that intersection wears my shocks, rims, tires, control arms etc. that is the worst stretch of road I drive here. It is worse than a Michigan road

Those taxi vans on STT scare the crap out of me. I find STX driving significantly calmer, even with the few narrow, windy roads on STX. Was one of the first things I noticed on first visit to STX (had been to STT first). Many more hairpins on STT and the hairpins on STX seem to be less traveled. Yes, on some of the narrow STX roads less traveled you have to hug the tall grass on the shoulder of the road sometimes to pass until they cut the grass.

Put a dash cam out the front and the rear to make sure you catch the rear license plate and maybe the pieces of your mirror flying all over the road afterwords.

I've seen that happen, too. Someone speeding along and takes out someone's side view mirror in other lane and just keeps on trucking.
The guy had just passed me and took out the guy's mirror on truck behind me. I heard a noise and didn't know where it came from until I saw the guy's mirror rolling across their road. Too late to get a plate number. Camera's are a good idea, unless they break into your vehicle to steal them.

Scott Free road is another one that it's a good idea to take extreme caution but this stuff can happen anywhere.

Conquest Knight XV

The Security Group upgrade package includes under vehicle explosive protection system, opaque floor armor protection upgraded, under vehicle magnetic attachment detector, Black box, security safe, fire extinguisher, exterior surveillance camera system, positive pressure defense system against gas attacks, oxygen survival kit which offers protection against tear (CN/CS) as well as solid, liquid and gases contaminants.

I'm sure you can ask them to upgrade for an "Attack Group" package that includes missles.

Alana and Speedy, you probably have to upgrade for a "Defense/Attack Package," to include a turret gun, missiles, etc., because it already has the Security package upgrade 😀

It also includes:
front and rear commercial grade air ride suspension, front power windows, and 360-degree roof mounted, joystick-controlled searchlights. The KNIGHT XV will be wider and longer maintaining the same vehicle footprint with more interior space and will also feature new design cues such as a flip front end, new hood, grille, headlights and taillights.

The Luxury Group upgrade package includes electrostatic tinting (rear windows, sunroofs, partition), rear power windows, retractable ballistic glass partition, retractable flat screen television, siren, 2-way PA system with loud speaker, hidden front VIP strobes lights, forward and backup sensors and an external intercom communication system and Playstation3 or X-Box entertainment system, a VIP package inclusion of decanter bar, cooler box, and a cigar humidor.

The price for Knight XV is US $629,000. For more information on the Knight XV, please visit: Website: http://conquestvehicles.com/

Start saving your money:-)

You take it with you when you leave your car. Same as if you had a radar detector in the window.

Speedy, I'm ordering parts for the Defense Package. It will take a while to receive all the arms needed for the package and then to install them. If I were you I would go with the Attack and Defense Package, but if you want top of the luxury, also order the Luxury Package.

I will only have six to sell and depending on the package(s) you order, the cash down payment can range from US $350,000 to $700,000. You must also have the rest of the money in a secure bank account with one of our companies to prove you can pay for the vehicle in full on delivery.
We only take cash payments. Sorry no payment plans. A loan can be alternative means of obtaining cash. We aim to please our customers.
Any questions, pm me 😀 😀 😀 LOL LOL
